Kick panel 6.5" speaker cut outs HELP!

Anyone here fabricate their kick panels w/ air vent with a 6.5" speaker?
I want to put in some 6.5" focal speakers and I would prefer to use my original kick panels. Also any suggestions as to where I can get the black paint to restore the color on my kick panels when I'm done cutting out the hole?

      Thanks ya'll!

I originally bought the custom autosound ABS kick panels with speakers. I didn't like them. So I want to just make my own and cut out a hole beneath the control lever that opens the vent on the kick panel.

Check for magnet depth and speaker basket clearance before you settle on this decision. I was able to squeak 5.25" in my 73 Nova kick panels but they dont handle a lot of power and are not very big. Check in this category of the forum for a plate a guy has built to install 4X6 plates into the kickpanel where the vents used to be. Thats an option if you don't use the vents

Here's what I did for my 76 Camaro:

I made them with 1/2" mdf and flushed the area where the speaker will sit back a bit. I also beveled the edges so it doesn't look so "thick"
I covered them with black vinyl

Here is the drivers kick resprayed and assembled, I sprayed the faded factory kick SEM "landau Black"
