Is anyone running 17" rally's on their chevy's? i'm looking at the rally's from summit, they make 17x8 which i would run up front with 235's and a 17x9 for the rear which i would either see if they can make it in a 17x11 or see what it would cost to have them widened. I would like to run a 315 in the rear but i think i've heard that it has to be balanced with the front size which i can't go any larger with the stock front frame. Should i stick to a 275 rear tire? Any thoughts? Any pics? I haven't minitubbed it yet but was planning on it. If its better off not going with the 315 then i won't and will just do the 275.

The car will be autocrossed but will see a lot of driving(to me a lot but not a lot to others) I will be putting coilovers up front and i'm going to build a custom triangulated 4 link for the rear with coilovers. I was planning on using NT05's.

You cna run 315's on the back with a DSE mini tub, with the proper backspacking. If there just steel rallies, you could easily have them cut and isntalled on a 17x11 hop at a local machine shop. That way you cna ge tthe offset right.

I know how to get the 315 to fit but i read somewhere that unless you are running something like a 275 front tire its going to be very unbalanced so would it be better to use the 275 rear and 235 front?

And does anyone have a picture of 17 inch rally wheels?

Yes, it would push the front end around lot. It would hook in the straight line, but for pro touring use it would be pretty bad.

Im sticking with a 275 Rear and a 225 or 235 front. No need for a mini tub in that case...just get the BS right

Steel rally's are an awfully heavy wheels if autocross is in you future.

I had a 345 on the rear of my car and a 285 on the front and I was warned about all this "pushing". I experienced none of it and the car handled like it was on rails. Your expereinces may differ :) edit: not the 67

The car will be my 72 Nova, yes i know they are certainly not the lightest choice and definitely not my first choice but i'm a college student and its what i will be able to afford when i get around to it. I just sold my hotchkis suspension and i will be going with coilovers up front and will be building a triangulated 4 link for the rear. If i could afford it i would go with an aftermarket front frame to fit a wider tire up front but thats not in the forseeable future so a 235 is as wide as i can go with the front and i guess i will go with a 275 for the rear.

Hi,I put 17x8's on my 73 formula with 225/45/17f,245/45/17r and it looks/handles fine.I was going to go with the 275's but thought it looked a little FAT,compared to the front.I got the size from a car Jeff Lilly Restorations did called "THRUST",On their website(you should visit it!) .It looks tough, without that dragcar look.Good luck,X
