I was about to reinstall the heater box after replacing the core and noticed there is a wire that appears to have been pulled out but can't find any missing connections anywhere.
Here's the deal:
The car had been rewired before I got it with AAW and has MSD 6AL.
The wire in question goes from the plug-in at the steering column and is marked "ignition feed coil".
The wire is "hot" with the key on.
I have all the accessories off the car to repaint and detail the block but it fires and runs.
May have always been like this and didn't know it, seems unlikely, so where in the heck is this wire supposed to go?

What color is the wire ???
Has the car got the original factory harness in it ???
Or does it have a Painless Harness or something..??

Been completely rewired with American Auto Wire(Highway 22)
The wire is pink.

If the car runs without it, you don't need it.

I find it odd that it's even there though. I'll call AAW tomorrow to see what they say before I button it all up.

As the wire says, it is a coil switched 12v feed. Obviously the original installer used a different switched 12v to the coil. Makes no difference. Just be sure the wire is sealed and cannot ground out.

Mike, your right. That's exactly what the AAW tech guy told me today.
So now I can put the heater box back in and button everything up...finally!

FYFSA- In older (an still some newer), Pink means IGN hot wire, and has the apropriate gauge size to feed such things as the IGN. I would check to see exactly what the ignition is being fed with & make sure it's the proper size & has an equally sized ground.

Good advice, will verify.
