bought a 4L60E and will need a trans controller. Is TCI the best? What would be the cost effective way to do it? Can I get one from the junk yard and make it work?

Happy Thanksgiving. The BEST trans controller is by Compushift. And I've used most of them.

What do you have for an engine? If it uses a GM ECU then the engine and trans can both be controlled by the ECU. That's the cheapest "junkyard" way.

A company called Baumann Engineering now offers GM trans control Their product is extremely affordable. I have not used it, but it should get the job done and they have a good customer service reputation.

We sell Compushift. Link HERE (http://twistmachine.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=3) Compushift has the best feature set, an easy to install nicely labelled harness, great instructions and an optional display/tuner that greatly simplifies fine tuning and has some cool features like a built in dyno simulator. We ship every Compushift with a custom calibration and provide lifetime tech support. We've sold other brands in the past, but prefer Compushift exclusively at this time.

These controllers might seem like a big expense, but they offer big benefits for the money. Compared with electronic fuel injection, trans controllers like Compushift are actually a bargain.

If you'd like to discuss functional details, feel free to post some questions. Best to start by describing your application.
