Hello everybody my name is Da’Juan. I am a college student and rodding has always been my thing. This is my first main build. The vehicle is a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. I will be doing everything on this car myself paint, engine, interior. (Hope to at least) except for the rear and front seat upholstery. I will be having some custom parts also I will be doing. The bodywork will also be done elsewhere. I am not a stranger to taking advice, researching or asking questions. I hope I was not too lengthy. I just wanted to include my goals and what I have so far. This car will be 85% street 15% race/auto cross:enguard:. Well I guess I will list the things I have now for project CUT-THROAT!! Tell me what you all think. Thanks a million.
Engine: 496 Chevy
Block: Lifter valley has been polished, screened and notched to accept 4.250 crank and bored .60 over. It is a 2 bolt main. The rotating assembly is from Eagle. Cast crank along with forged Mahle pistons making 10.2 to 1 compression. The engine is being put together by me under very good supervision at Cullars speed.
Cam: I will be going with a Lunati solid roller. Pn-60233 In:249-Ex:255.
Heads: Well I am not sure yet due to funds. Hope to go with Patriot rectangular port heads. 320cc.
Intake and Carb: Rpm Air gap. 950 cfm Holley DP.
Ignition: MSD 6al Box. MSD street fire distributor with bronze gear for the roller cam. MSD digital multi retard for the NITROUS!!! :machine:
Transmission: 700r4. Hope to get 4L80E with paddle shift.
Rear End: For now I have a chevy 10 bolt posi with 3:73 gears going in it. Will upgrade once funds let me do so or I come across a deal. But should hold up for a while.
Suspension and Brakes: stock for now but hope to get some guidance.
Wheels: 2 piece with a bit of road rash but are 19x8 front and 19x9.5 rear. I have not bought tires yet but want some meat in the rear.

hey man, looks like a great start--I will wait for the pros specific to your platform to step in and help but those cars have tons of potential thanks to a rapidly growing aftermarket support.

--Can't beat a big-cc engine for street-pounding fun!
--if you haven't already seen, http://www.twistmachine.com should be able to help you plan out your paddle shifter setup.
--that 10 bolt should be fine for a long time, just beef it up internally as funds allow--since you aren't planning on dragging the car heavily, you can save some pretty serious unsprung weight by not switching to a heavier 12 bolt or 9 inch, without much risk of failure.
--suspension/brakes--there are too many names to list, but folks like prodigy customs can help you put together a complete package to take care of it all in one swoop. Just make sure you think about limiting unwanted travel anywhere you can--all the trick parts in the world are no good if they are coping with chassis flex and other forms of uncontrolled motion. Subframe connectors, any other kind of bracing you can think of, solid body mounts, polyurethane bushings, etc. will make a huge difference for not too much cash. Also, don't get too caught up in all of the different "completely redesign your rear suspension!" kits--most of the time, a stock-style setup with better springs and swaybars and proper shocks can make a HUGE difference.
--those wheels are going to look great on there!

^^ Thanks for the advice. The car is at the body shop now and will be out this weekend. I will post pics. My friends looked at me crazy when I told them I will be building classic car that will be powerful and have nice handling. But I guess they dont know Pro-Touring:smoke:

Welcome! Nice project.

I started my car 1 year before college and got drawn into this website and my project has become a 7 year project. Your defintely in the right place with all the suspension guru's on board.

I have always been a big fan of the Olds. Keep us updated on the progress.
