Got my new tires in today and saw that the GOODYEAR F1 GS-D3 have a lip on the tire that is called a rim protector. It almost looks like it is made for a standard stepped rim. Is this going to be a problem with Fat Lip Rims? Maybe a little paranoid but want to make sure.

I think that just there to sell more tires, so you think that if you rub a curb it wont do anything. I dont think that the tire is any differant. If it just has the extra rubber bead.

Most HP tires now are running "rim protector" beads now. Falken, Michelin and Goodyear for sure.

No I dont think that it will protect it that much. I really like the Goodyear f1 gs-d3 tire. Aggresive looking tire tread for sure. The rim protection line was just part of the tire. Didnt buy it for that reason. It just threw me when I saw it ans wondered if it would interfer with the tire mounting of a fat lip. Guess I dont need to worry?

F1 GS-D3 is a really good tire.

Just to be safe, ask the guy who you will buy your tires from, or ask Budnik, I am sure they will have an answer.

I can tell from 10+ in the tire business that tire/wheel design has no impact on the ability to mount them. Some are just harder than others....rev. offset suck.
