i was racking my brain wondering if i could use this switch instead of one of the cheesy parts store type switches...the switch is a three positon with off-ignition-ignition w/ lights, so i'm sure i'd have to have a button or some other type of starter switch like a motorcycle would have since it's made for a harley anyway... want something sleek and not-so-ordinary to use on my project and i'm gonna be using it with a universal wiring kit like painless or ron francis...please help me guys with this as i know VERY little about swapping or retro-fitting things like this and making them work in the electronics realm...thanks a bunch for any help or suggestions

You are correct as you will need a momentary switch to actually start the vehicle.... but it should work fine...

bump...come on guys, no one else got any suggestions or comments as to whether this kind of setup will work?...does the harley have wiring to their ignition like a normal vehicle?...

i don't see why it wouldn't work, unless the bikes still run a magneto and the switch grounds thru the body to kill it or something like that.
