      rookie suspension/wheels question

Hey there. I have a rookie questions here. I have a 67 GTO and im trying to make a plan of attack to get it on the road by spring. To do this im not going to have the $$ to upgrade the front suspension right away so im planning on re-useing the stock upper and lower control arms and disc brakes. If I upgrade in the near future to a tubular A arms, coil overs and some large disc brakes is there a potential for my front wheels to need a different backspacing after the upgrade?

I would think the only change in wheels would be if you changed the track width or brake size significantly. If the track width changes, you might need to change your backspacing. If the brake size changes, you might have to change the wheel design for proper fitment.

I would research and figure out exactly what you want to go with suspension/brake wise and get wheels for that application.

Most big-brake kits are going to change the track width, some narrower and some wider, it just depends on the kit. Some are relatively little changes in the neighborhood of 1/4" while others are more substantial.

If you know the brakes you intend to run in the future, I'd just figure out your BS requirements with those brakes versus your current OE disc setup and then plan on running a spacer to make up the difference before or after the swap...it'll depend on the kit whether it gets wider or narrower, thus changing when the spacer will be required. I think I confused myself on that one.
