      best prices on c5 calipers

looking for the best prices on c5 calipers, is gmpartsdirect the way to go? i have the caliper part #'s as z06 front left 88895128, right 88895129, cant find abutment part #'s, what other hardware is needed for c4/c5 combo. thanks for any assistance. may just go with a kit from speed tech, will most likely get brackets from them.

I purchased the brackets from Speedtech, nice parts. I believe that the cheapest calipers will be A1 Cardone unloaded units. They are available with all the hardware needed to bolt on if I understand right. Then you will need pads. The loaded version is not easily had since there is a core charge and 1 side must be rebuilt and returned to you. Rockauto has them listed on their site as well.

      C5 calipers

I also purchased the Speed Tech conversion brackets and they are excellent quality. As far as the calipers. They are the same as the F-body caliper with the exception of the abutment bracket. I purchased a set of used F-body calipers for $75 and bought the Corvette abutments from gmpartsdirect.com. The part number for the abutment is GM # 12455799 you need 2 of these. You will also need 4 allen head cap screws: size M14-2.0 x 40. I picked these up at a local fastenal store.

      Not entirely true.

The C5 'vette caliper is a pressure casting and the F-body caliper is a gravity casting.

The pressure casting (just like a forging) produces a stronger casting.

The C5 caliper also features strengthening ribs that run across the entire top of the caliper that increases rigidity of the caliper (less caliper spread under load) unlike the F-body caliper.

www.gmotors.com has good prices on the calipers, but you'll have to e-mail them the GM part numbers. I must admit though that I don't know if they will be able to beat gmpartsdirect.com's price.
