      Torq Thrust or V40/ V45 $$

I could use some education here. 1st Gen application. Looking for a 17X8 x 5BS

I really like that Classic look of the polish rim with the dark 5 spoke design. The Torq Thrust Ds and the V40 and V45 look about the same to me.

The Vintage 45s and 40s are resonably priced up to the 16 inch rim then the price takes a drastic turn for the worst. The Torq Thrust Ds or Originals still stay resonably priced.

I guess why spend twice the money on the V40/45 when they just end up looking like the TT wheel anyway. I know the TT are used to death and people seem to hate them becasue there every where but are there any other compelling reasons to go with the Vintage Wheels?

Keep in mind I'm only looking at the pic on the net. I have not seen any of these rims up close.

yeah in person they do actually look quite different... im sure the average joe wouldnt notice but car nuts like of do see the difference.

also like mentioned the TT2s are china made and VWWs are american made, hence the price difference.

I much prefer the look of vww myself these have a more period correct style to them.

I hear that the V40/V45 center caps sticks out too far and the spokes are flat on the back no curve at all, where as the torque thrust spokes are curved on the back.

I guess I could go with the 16s as I'm looking at CarlC car for a template. It just seems like their are more tire choices for 17s.

VWW's hands down.... Excellent wheel for the money. There are other options out there for center caps, I had a custom set of flat caps made and they look 10x better than the VWW cap

VWW is a much better wheel than American Racing will ever be. Do a side by side comparison and you wont have any more questions on this particular subject.

      16's have a very limited selection of high-performance sizes. That's why I up-sized to 17's.

VWW are not nearly as popular as Americans, which is a bonus for me. Besides that, it is a very good wheel, and Rusty is a great guy to deal with.

I like the finish on the VWW wheels BUT...I wish they came in larger diameters. Also wish someone competent would buy out ARE.

One HUGE benefit to VWW is that they do custom backspacing. It's very hard to find wheels with custom backspacing for a reasonable price. My GTO needed fairly unique backspacing in the rear and VWW was pretty much my only choice without spending thousands of dollars for a custom wheel.

Pick up both wheels and after you've had them in your hands, you'll clearly have your answer...there is no comparison.

If you've ever seen a AR wheels spin on a chassis dyno or seen the seemingly endless amounts of weight needed to balance them or had their welds leak and need to add air on a weekly basis, you wouldn't be asking this question.

Don't settle for China made crap when there are much better American-made options available...you do truly get what you pay for.

Do we not like "things" made in China because they are inferiorly made or because they are made by the Chinese? Labor rates vs. Cost of Product.

Second...I sure as hell wish my fellow Americans would make an American (oops) Racing Torq Thrust II twin in something larger than a 17. 18's, 18/19, 19/20. ...oh and then not charge me American made prices.

      Just sayin
