Eliminating interior odors-mice
I had a couple of vehicles sitting outside under a lean-to on the back of my barn while I was working on my '87. Needless to say, I have evidence of mice being in the interior of them. >:(
So far it doesn't look like they did a whole lot of damage but did leave a trail of mouse turds and urine on the floor. Lukily it appears they urinated on the rubber floor mats so that should be easy enough to clean up.
So what can I use to help get rid of the slight musty smell thats in the interior now? I've read you can use baking soda or a small cup of vinegar. Any other options?
I'm trying to get the vehicle cleaned out as best as I can before I put it back inside the barn where it belongs.
I'm also concerned that if there are mice still in the car, that they may decide to hop out while in the barn. We've been lucky with our barn so far as we have very few animals, if any that ever make it in. So I don't want to start something by moving a vehicle in that may have them. Any tips on keeping other varment from wanting to take up residency?
Thanks guys,
Andrew

10-19-2009 #2Pet store, walmart's pet section. Get an enzyme cleaner they sell for pet stains, urine, blood, etc. Breaks down the stuff which creates the odor instead of just masking it. Pretty sure plain old mothballs will do a good job of keeping mices out of a car, they have pretty sensitive respiratory systems if I'm not mistaken. Rats I doubt will be so easy.
