I have a new Autometer electronic speedo that I can't seem to get a signal.
I have a new three wire hookup 16 pulse Hall Effect sender. There is power to the sender, good ground and the continuity checks good from the sender to the speedo.
The speedo has a good ground, 12V power, good signal wire contact and the gauge lighting works.
The speedo powers up and I can get it to atttempt to calibrate but the odometer that normally showes crazy pulse numbers while it is calibrating shows nothing. Its like its not getting a signal at all.
I checked the signal while slowly rotating the driveshaft and it would read approximately 5 volts when it would pulse. It did not however pulse 16 times in one revolution. It only pulsed about 8 times the best I could tell.
Looks to me like it wouldn't matter how many times it pulsed as long as it did pulse it should calibrate. I can't get it to do anything on the needle.
Oh, it is not an Autometer sender. It is a Summit brand equivalent to the Autometer. I have also replaced the speedo with a new one. Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks.
