What is the widest wheel/tire you can use on the rear of a '68 Camaro with stock rear wheel wells?

Colt,

Did you have to roll the fender lips? Also, do you have discs or factory drums?

I have baer discs on all 4 corners, and no, I didnt touch the fender lip at all. now for a 10'' rim.......you might need to do some mods......but 9.5 with 5.5 bs fit no problem.some cars may vary so measure 100 times before ordering.... :)

I have just fitted 275/40/17 on a 9.5J 5.5 back space.... They don't fit....NICE
I measured an thought they'd fit - I lost 1/2" some where in my math.

Should have goe with the 5 back space Wheel vintiques recomend or even better go with a nice healthy 245/45/17s. Currently I've got a 7/16 spacer (on drums) and I can ony just detect something rubbing.
they stick out a little to far to look totaly right.

That being said, 275 will look perfect without the spacer when I mini tub. With the correct inset from the fender arch.

By the way my car is either built very differently or you guys with the same set up are not going around corners. I've got a Watts Link to limit side to side movement and I've only got 1/4-1/2" between the body and tire. Somthing doesn't add up...hmmmm

My 245/45/17 on 8J, 4.5BS rubs on the bolt securing the front fender to the body (behind the wheel) on full lock. 4.25"BS I think would have fixed this. Again the look is about right so I'll be changing the bolt to button head to get clearance. (fyi I'm running Wilwoods 12.19" discs up front)

Colt zantop- I measured twice, D'oh. 275 on 18 don't bulge as bad. oh well funds need to recover for the tubing, 4 link etc... then it'll look just fine.

Do they make a 275/45/18? I have seen this in 17" but can't find it in 18... That is the size I would like to run in the interum.. Until I get everything else done...

Vince I haven't forgot about you....
