1st Gen Firebird (Camaro?) - Gear Vendors or 4L80E Fitment?

Do either of these require cutting the tunnel or major surgery to fit? (Gear Vendors would use a TH400).

4L80E fits nicely. I have installed them on several 1st Gen F-bodies.

I think the GV would be problematic. I had one in my '69 Chevelle.
      I didn't like the fit.

I know the GV wouldn't fit my second generation TA without major surgery. YMMV.
