doin some quick mods jus to get da beast on da road.
i cut my coils jus to drop em down, QA1 stocker shocks all roun'
jus got it on da ground, an da bugga tilts an inch to the pass. side
i cut 1 coil, even on both... if it was tilted i never noticed til now.
*meassured to da lower lip a da fender*
<--front
LH 24 3/4-24 1/4
RH 23 5/8-22 3/4
i love da look of da rear pass tire, obvi. da lowest...
equal tire pressures..... thinkin of jus gettin the hotchkis 2'' drop springs but affraid i'l have da same prob.
why am i tilted? tanks bruddahs!

Check you rear springs. One rear spring could be weaker than the other causing the uneven frontend.
This "assumes" that the front springs you cut were new high quality springs and NOT old probably worn out springs that may match the back springs.

Number of coils is not a unit of measurment so your springs may not be equal length after cutting

Aaah, Hawaii... the most racist state in the union.
Your problem is you cut your springs. You went at something with an unscientific approach, and expect specific results.

Nothing wrong with cutting springs - racers have been doing it for years. Keep in mind that you will increase the spring rate when doing it.

hawaiian style cuz, spam musubi's brake da mout! if u never been to da islands look for em!!

Just so you know the Hotchkis springs will probably make your car sit higher than it did with the uncut springs...

Try this -
Get some 2x4's stacked up to where you want your ride height. Take a propane torch to your springs until the car sits on the 2x4's. Let it sit for about a day, then lift the car and pull the 2x4's.
This is slightly better than cutting your springs. At least it gives you an exact result.

wtf. why call em 2" drops... at least you said probably, i hope it turns out the way i've pictured it........
i've heard its not a good idea to heat up springs exactly like that, so i opted not and cut em

It is also not so great an idea to cut springs, but you already did that lol. You're doing it for looks, and not ride quality... you might as well go all the way with it.

WORST way to lower a car EVER! And there is nothing exact about it.

scientific proof?

Experience, and lots of it. I would like to see scientific proof that says application of heat at potentially varying intervals, concentrations and locations from one side to the next is accurate or scientific. BUT, when 2 springs of equal height and rate are cut by equal amounts, an equal outcome will occur. Much moire scientific than the eyeball gauge of thermodynamic and metallurgic impact.
Where's your tech?
99 times out of 100, any difference side to side is a bent frame, improperly indexed springs, bushings binding inconsistently from one side to the other, etc. The 100th of 100 is the springs are inconsistent in height or rate. Using a torch and heating the springs (which actually can soften the ride due to a decrease in spring rate, there is science around that) to get thing level is merely a band aid over what could be a very simple or serious problem.

heating up the spring will aneal the steel (soften it) casing the wire to bend and not return to it original shape and you will cause soft and hard spots along the length of the spring and this could cause the spring to break, so it's the WORST thing to do

Seen it happen. Even when it happens inside a pigtailed end coil, it's still scary.

I'm afraid that I have absolutely no idea what you just wrote. If this was a face to face discussion, I would ask you to please try again or explain in more detail.
In order to have any chance of getting the right answer, the question must first be understood by the person trying to provide that answer.

Not intended as flame.Spot on. ProTour, we expect folks to attempt to write in English, and we also expect folks to have a name in the signature (a first name is sufficient). Anonymous posts in "stylized" English will likely not get you the results you're looking for. You are asking technical questions, and looking for technical answers. The burden to provide information is on you, and English is the expected method.
As for heating springs: it's a bad idea. That's well established, and requires no further justification.
