Ok so since ive been busy with school and work and what not i had to leave the car sitting for pretty much a year. Now that i have situated my school and work schedules i get about 24 hours a week to actually work on the car. Well i took the entire old harness out months ago and now I am finally installing my AAW wiring harness.

Heres the first problem that i have run into... I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get out the ignition switch, light switch and lighter out of their spots on the dash. Obviously they need to come out as covan has supplied me with new ones. Any help on this would be awesome as I need at least the ignition to change over.

if I'm not mistaken, I think you need a tool that looses the nut on the front of them?

IIRC there is a button behing the dash on the side of the headlight switch that allows the switch thingy that you pull on to come out the front and then you can unscrew the nut!

The ignition switch lock tumbler mechanism (the thing the key goes into) must be removed before the nut can be removed. Insert the ignition key. Insert a small stiff wire into the hole on the face of the tumbler. While pushing the wire in turn the key counter clockwise. It should turn past the ACC position. The tumbler can then be removed.

The light switch has a button on it with a small spring under the button head. Depress the button while pulling out the knob. The whole knob/shaft assembly should come all the way out.

If memory serves the lighter just unscrews.

From the Chassis Shop Manual for 1968 Chevrolet, Chevelle & Camaro it states the following for removal of ignition switch:

Remove the lock cylinder by positioning switch in "ACC" position and inserting wire in cylinder face small hole. Push in on wire to depress plunger and continue turning key counter-clockwise until lock cylinder can be removed.

Remove the ignition switch bezel nut and pull the ignition switch out from under the dash.

how about this for the curveball, my ignition key is MIA somehow it must have been misplaced in the 3 moves i've encountered in the last year. So should i just cut it out or is there another way. Thanks for all your helps guys.

Looking for some help guys Im finishing up some of the small things on the dash part of the harness and the turn signal wiring says to match up the wires and install them into connector L. Problem is all the wires coming from the turn signal are black just covered in something (possible coating from spraying the floor down.

Anyways is there anyone that knows which color wires are which or a picture would be awesome as well. I think they are already in order but i have no way to tell.
