So I ordered 18X10 inch DPE wheels with a 5.5 inch backspacing, Rear end is stock width, 54" Flange to Flange. Brakes are Wilwood dynalite 12.19" with 4 Piston Calipers. Wheels stick out about 3/4 of an inch too much on either side. I think the problem may be that the billet aluminum spacers or whatever they are that go right outside the flange and house the wheel bearings may be too wide. What are they Stock? Mine are 3/4" each, so together 1.5" on each side when they are stuck together. Is that how wide everyone else's are or are mine wider then stock? I never checked these and bought the car with wheels that fit and already had this rear end set up. was a drag car and the tires kinda stick out anyways, but I knew I wasn't keeping it that way to I didn't car. So new rear end needed? New spacers? or can I just have mine machined down so that together they are 3/4"?

Is that 53.5" from the outer edge of the axle flange to axle flange?
Can you post a picture of the spacers you mention?

I'll take pictures when Im back with it tomorrow. Thats from the end of the black metal housing to the other end.

C-clip eliminators? Not really sure what you're referring to, but you can have your housing and axles shortened to fix your backspacing issues.

My housing is the stock width, and I checked all over the boards and everyone was using 9.5 or 10 w/ 5.5" backspacing. So it cant be the width of the housing.

9 1/2 wheels with 5.5bs would probably fit...but on my 68, to fit the 10" wheel, I needed a 6"bs. With the 295 wheels I'm running, I probalby should have gone with a 6.25bs....I get a slight rub on the inside of the fender lip when I hit a good bump.
I have a stock width rear end with a mini-tubbed car.

Oh I got the info from nine ball about it, said on a 67 a 10 inch wheel, 5.5 inch bs, and 275 tire would work

You need a 6" BS on a 10" wheel.

Anyone know about how much it would cost to have axles and housing shorted? I don't want to changed backspacing because I don't want less of a rear lip.

If you get it done in the Seattle area, the best person to do that work in the area is Bill Scribner at http://www.scribnerwelding.com/
He does outstanding work at very reasonable prices.

and send axles to moser if aftermarket for repline or call them for new ones or Summer brothers axles.
I just had another customer break a set of Strange axles, those (not)cheap a$$ crap axles will never come to my shop again.

Sorry to hear about your fitment issues. I don't recall speaking to you or emailing you, and you didn't order those wheels from me. I saw you respond to an old set I had for sale, which actually did end up on a lowered 68 Camaro and they fit perfectly.

Nine Ball, do you have his info? I'd liek to know what the width is of his rear end axle to axle. Maybe my wilwood brakes pushed them out, I had stock drums before. But I don't think it would make that much fo a difference.

BTW the fronts fit perfect, that 68 Camaro is almost of not the same color as my car. Mine's Chevrolet Racing Indiglo Blue. Anyone know what that is?

The driver side fits, passenger doesn't. One measurement I forgot was inner to outer fender, drivers side is 13 inches wide, Passenger is only 12.6-12.7. So there .4 Inch of my problem. I think the other .35 can be from the rear end not being perfectly cneter. Is it possible to move it that much? Rear end is stock width exact same on both sides so it has to be pushed to one side a little. Also could I maybe shave a total of .35 split between the two metal spacers that hold the wheel bearing? If I could do that it would fit perfect, maybe 1/4 inch on either side or 3/8 on either side. Tight fit but must be done.

for the record, nineball had just told me what had worked in the past and what he had success with, wasn't advice for my specific car, just one like it. I made the mistake of not measuring. He was just giving me a basic Idea to help out w/ a base to start at
