Just wanted to let everyone know we are revising the seat model we use for our custom upholstered seats. Many people were disappointed when we switched from the original model we offered to the ST because of the larger harness holes in the headrest. The switch was primarily because the bottom bolsters were easier to get in and out of as well as more durable and the seat back held you in place much better. We plan to come out with the model below by November and we will offer them in houndstooth and other custom upholstery. Anyone that is interested in having us make seats for them can email me ([email protected]) a description of what they are looking for and I will start working on estimates.

New design looks great. Any chance the bottom is shorter now too? IIRC the newer ones had you sitting higher, are these back to being lower?

Please oh please!

I can't believe the ST model could have sat much higher. It does use a 2 piece direct bolt-in bracket which is 3/8" tall. The old model had sliders that were far enough apart that you could use a single flat plate like below and save 3/16" but you would need to mark and drill your own holes. I thought the ST bottom cushion was slightly thinner and made up that difference but I'll have to check.

We have requested the change below to the cushion foam. The top is the current shape and the bottom what we submitted. That should gain another 1" of headroom for those in need.

More headroom is key for us taller guys (6'6" here) especially when wearing a helmet.

It shouldn't. There will still be a suspension system under the foam that should prevent the seat from feeling rigid.

I have the stock seats in my 69 camaro right now and more head clearence would be awesome. I have hit my headliner more than enough times with my helmet and I am only 6'

I'm 6'3" near 300lbs and these work well in my '68 Camaro. They are a little snug on my thighs but I don't slide around in them.

Larry - What's going on? You said 280 lbs. when you first got the seats. Don't tell me your just using this beast to get to the donut shop faster :-)

I might have just got myself banned from the site!

Hey!! I said near 300.. 280 is close enough for me. lol!

Where is that ban button?

I'm curious to get some real world feedback when these are ready. At almost 6'6" I will need all the room I can get as I'll be channeling the floor in mine.

Our new ST2 seats should arrive about the 3rd week of February. This is the model we will be offering custom upholstered in houndstooth, comforweave, leather, suede, etc. according to customer requirements. We should have some upholstered pictures in 2-3 weeks.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

We have a couple of seat models that will be discontinued. One is the RS model below. It is a well built seat that passed 20g rear impact testing. Its downside is it does not have a quick-release for the seat back to fold forward instantly. It does recline forward and back by adjusting the knob. We have 10 seats left unupholstered and can sell them for $299 per seat to anyone interested.

The ST2 will be priced according to how it is upholstered. Depending on the cost of the cover material (vinyl, comfortweave, houndstooth, leather, suede, etc.) the seats will range starting at $679-$799 each. We will have some with an imported black cloth cover that will be less expensive but will not be able to offer matching rear seat covers for those models.

We have I believe 2 sets of the RT seats in black cloth below remaining. If any are interested in them for a first gen Camaro I will offer a special deal with sliders and mounting brackets for $799 a pair delivered in the continental US. Email me ([email protected]) if interested.

This will be the basic upholstery pattern for the ST2. Any seats we upholster will be available with or without harness openings. We will also make the inserts in custom stitching patterns to match the o/e designs like houndstooth and comfortweave seats.

Will the new seats have matching rear covers as well?

I going to be redoing my interior and would be interested in the new seats with harness openings. As well as the seat adapters for a 69 Camaro and matching rear seat covers.

As far as color goes I see this picture on your site:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

I have a Lemans Blue 69 RS with white interior that I think I'd like to change to either a blue or black, is the black with blue inlay an still an available color option?

Will the new seats have matching rear covers as well?

Yes. The least expensive way to do the complete interior is to have us make our seats to match the rear covers from PUI. They are the largest reproduction upholstery maker and most Camaro websites are selling their covers. We can order the rear cover for you if needed.

For those who want something custom, not stock, (leather, suede, 2-tones, etc.) we can make the rear cover as well.

What is the chance of getting lower backed seats?

What is the chance of getting lower backed seats?

We may look into it in the future but for now all our seats are tall enough to have a racing harness cutout if needed.

We can buy seats like the ones below but if custom upholstery was needed they would be more expensive than our own models.

If we get at least 3 people interested in this lower back seat, I can look into having a pattern made for those who require custom upholstery. So if you like this model, spread the word and find 2 others. The seat comes standard in some vinyl or velour colors.

We make seats to order according to upholstery desired. We are out of stock on frames and foam until about the 3rd week in February. The new seats are different from the blue/black 2-tone seat in this photo. They will be like the seat below; with or without harness holes. We can make them in whatever colors, material or stitching pattern is needed. They will fit in a 69 Firebird.

What is the overall height of the seat back?

The seat is 36" tall. It is about 1" taller than Larry's below; and also about 1" wider in the shoulders and across the seat bottom.

are there any plans to design a seat that incoporates a shoulder belt for a 3 or 4 pt harness? most older cars require using an aftermarket setup that bolts to the roof when not running a cage, but its looks leave a lot to be desired. my silverado has a similar setup like im referring to. since none of us should be stupid enough to drive the cars with just lap belts, another option would be nice.

Tim,

We have no plans to have a seat built with an integrated seat belt. If you do that, your seat becomes part of the safety/restraint system in the car and you take on tremendous liability. We try to give the customer the option on using the stock restraint system that came in the car or a racing harness but have neither actually part of the seat itself.

thanks for the response. i guess thats why i cant find one. they would require a lot more than just bolting to a stock sheetmetal floor.

Here are pictures of the new 69 Houndstooth seats. We are taking orders now and seats will take about 3 weeks to produce. Comfortweave uses the same pattern and will be offered as well. Whatever else you need, just email ([email protected]) or pm me for a quote. They will normally have a harness slot in the headrest but can be made solid like the pictures.

For those considering custom upholstered seats, we will have one black cloth seat we will use to ship out for test fit purposes. This can help people decide who are unsure if they fit comfortably in this model. You must be willing to pay all shipping charges in both directions. This model is 1" wider in the shoulders and thigh area than the seat Larry has but just as tight in the lower back.

Can someone please tell me the height of the factory seat from the floor on 1967-1969 Camaro/Firebird? We are trying to determine if a taller bracket will be needed for some drivers? Please try to get the height in the same area as our photo.

We will be offering soon a shortened headrest on the ST2 seat. The overall seat height will be about 2 1/4" less, approximately 33 3/4". We should be making the first set with this modification shortly and will take pictures.

Question - Any issues with using stock seat belts or say Morris Classic 3 point belts on the front seats?

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the ST2 with a shortened headrest. This option adds $50 to the standard seat price. The harness holes can be eliminated if desired.

I like it. Just made my short list for seats when I'm ready to buy them.
