Does anyone have any experience with how a 555r handles? The car will have about 650hp maybe a bit more and is built to handle well but isn't going to be a auto-x car, maybe an occasional track day. I can get a good deal on a set of 315/35/17 555r's which is the size I'd run in the rears but I dunno what to run in the front or if I should get nt-01's that I can get for reasonable money in the same size. A little spiritual guidance would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

I run them on my Viper making 900 HP and this is my second set and near my third set. They are very good as a driver and can do some bends okay, but not as good for handling as say a PS or PS2 or the like, but reasonable and I do drive my cars VERY hard. It hooks well on the straights and is reasonable in the rain, I give them 5 stars out of 5. The Nittos can run slightly smaller than an identical size tire FYI. They also will not act the same after a year or more on high HP cars, I do notice a difference as they age.
EDIT: 555R ONLY on the rears! I re-read your post, if you want a matching front tire, go with the NT555 for the front if you are running 555R on the rear.

I have 555r in the rear 315/35-17 I have about 450hp and they hook well. I ran 12.5 with a 1.76 60ft and autocross with them. They are a great tire and way more traction than the 555. They handle great although Id love to try the nt-01.

Never personally used the 555r, a good friend runs them and loves them though.
