Anybody running this combination? Or is a 285/40 the biggest you can go? Just trying to safely fit as big of a tire as possible on an 18x9.

with that sidewall - i think youd be fine, as long as you arent out trying to drift the car around every turn.
thats a pretty tall tire though. almost 28.5" tall. a 285/40 is just under 27" tall

I'm running a 305 40 18 Nitto Drag radial on an 18x9 rim on my 65 Impala SS with no problem.

FWIW, I have a 295/35-18 on my 9.5" wheels. It may not be optimal if this were a dedicated track car, but works for what I do with it.
