teflon heim joints and spherical bearings are designed for
'lube free' operation.
if a person wanted that extra insurance for those high buck ends
what grease would be safe to use?
thanks, doug

I used Red Line wheel bearing grease on my Herb Adams sway bar spherical rod ends with great results so far. There may be a specific grease so hopefully someone with that knowledge will chime in.

The trick would be to keep dirt out of the joint or the grease will collect it. There are circle track seals for them.

I will look for those when I get my front end finished up!

the reason they have teflon liners is so you don't have to lube them . teflon is self lubricating .plus the liner does a good job sealing out the dirt. just try to keep them clean and if you have to do something just a little wd-40 works great.

I recall reading somewhere that the teflon one's require more frequent replacement, but I can't remember where I read that... Some may be rebuildable???

i woulnd't use teflon rod-ends they are junk. but rather use teflon lined rod ends theese are the best quality r-ends you can buy .we use them if all our race cars .a standard 3/4 by 3/4 c-moly r-end runs about $35.00 not like the cheepo's that use the teflon as a bearing race.instead of just a liner.

I meant the seals.. They are ridiculously cheap... I get it that it's not a good idea to use cheapest rod end available.

We sell FK rod ends, used by anybody in racing, drag, road, etc. The quadfather is right, we sell the super heavy duty 3-piece with a ptfe liner to all sorts of race shops in town. $35.00 is about right for 1 of these 3/4 x 3/4 ends. We never replace them because they have failed. The static load on the 3/4 x 3/4 is 28,090 lbs!

these are the style of rod ends i am using on the front a-arms i have
on my chassis. i am also using 1" ID sperical bearing with S.S. housings
for my rear lower control arms.
i havent been able to find a source for 1" bore seals.
i found some grease intended for 10,000 rpm moulders at work, but it runs around $85 a tube.
