Front Passenger tire rubbing what to do?

I just got new wheels and tires Billet Spec Vintec Dish 17x8 4.5 bs 245/45/17 Front, 17x9.5 5.5 bs 275/40/17 back for my 1968 Camaro. Rears no problems, Front driver no problem, passenger side front rubs. I lowered the car 2" with hotchkis springs. I think if I raised the car 1" I would have no problems. Is this the answer?? Any thoughts suggestions would be great.

where's the tire contacting the car? the fender lip or the A arm?

if its the fender you could roll the lip.

      same problem

I have the same problem with my 68 chevelle. I found it weird that only 1 side rubbed. so I notched the inner fender lip and that fixed the problem

you should have used a 5 in back space. if its rubbing on the very outside corner. that would have set them in 1/2 more

Double check you alignment specs, you might be off on that side. .5 neg camber might help??? Find out whats hitting then beat the hell out of it. Its alot harder to roll 67-68 lips so becareful not to warp the fender.

The wheels seem to be hitting on the inside of the fender wheel. The funny thing is I can see the clearance difference between the top of the fenderwell on drivers vs. passenger side. Looks like the car is just sitting to low in front. Could I not raise it by replacing the springs to get the extra clearance?

      Some tips...

Once you know your alignment is on, then go after spring options. You could get springs made at a spring shop, buy a set that people recommend, or even work your inner fenders wells a bit by 'adjusting' the mounting areas. I had 17x9.5 Vette wheels in front on my 71 Camaro and had to modify the rear inner fender well mount by an inch, which pulled the inner fender well back a bit, increasing my tire clearance and eliminating the rubbing I had.

Also running a bit smaller tire will help too, like a lower profile or the next narrower size. Good luck,

1* negative camber and replace the top fender bolts with button heads did the trick for me.

Neg camber moves top of tire inward a tad...

This is generally desirbale on some of our cars in order for the tire to end up fairly flat when in a turn . The body rolls over the tire bit, try to visualize the body doing that and if your tire was flat when aiming straight that same flatness in a turn would end up angled a bit towards the outer shoulder of the tire, in effect reducing contact patch and cornering ability. Am I making sense? For a 2nd Gen the stuff I have compiled (from Daivd Pozzi, Mad Mike, Guldstrand, and others) says to shoot for 2+ neg camber for autocross, road racing was bit less. 1st Gens are probably a bit different.
