I was hoping to compile of list of engine builders people here have used and been happy with.

I would like to have an LS3 engine built that makes between 550-600 HP. Would really like a 427 but that is not a have to have, but more of a want. What engine builders have you used and how was the experience?

Wegner Motor Sports has a new "Bull Run" Crate Engine package they are doing for us.

It is a 415CI 601HP motor that is a duplicate of the motor in the Bull Run Racer we just finished. We just did the 3000 mile torture test known as Bull Run and did everything from 3hour Manhatten traffic, to Taladega laps near 140MPH, some drag racing, 98 degree 5PM Atlanta traffic, you name it. Flawless performance. It is a bad puppy and has Wegners Nascar technoligy inside.

The dyno sheet is a work of art. Pricing is awesome at $14,800 INCLUDING their trick front drive accesories.

Check out the peak power at 6600RPM and then check the power at 600RPM and 7200RPM. Nascar head porting at work right there.

The Wegner boys built my 620 hp 427.

They really really know what they are doing. Carl Wegner is the force behind the NASCAR LS-based spec engine, used in many of the junior circuits, and he's trying to take that engine to Sprint Cup competition, and to the street. They also do a lot of behind-the-scenes engine research for GM, and they design some of the GMPP stuff.

You might find cheaper, but you won't find better.

Don't want to run a carb but that does look like a nice setup. Almost looks like the second picture has a throttle body on there?

Both the Bull Run engine and mine are EFI.

Do they have a bit more sedate config?

Hahaha, I guess the fuel rails with injectors should have clued me in! Just saw that big air filter on there and made an assumption.

Awesome looking package, I sent them an email...just waiting to hear back. Do you order directly through Wegner or can you take care of it Frank? I have quite a bit of stuff I want to get through Prodigy so if I can do this too...well why not!

They list some of their engines here: http://s41657.storefront-solutions.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=43

BTW...have enjoyed following your build. Should start a thread of my own, but I feel like a wimp since I just tore it apart some and then sent it to a shop. I know I would never finish if I attempted it.

Thanks. I live in N. CA. I'd never be able to justify paying for mine if I weren't doing the lions share of the work myself.

MAST motorsports seems to be doing well too. You can find their banner to the right. DSE has one of their 413s in the 69 Test Car. Wegner is great too though.

I talked to Wegner and they said it was minus the harness.

I spied an NHRA Pro Stock motor up there last time I was there. They have a couple of tricks that they are working on for one of the top builders in the Pro Stock world. If it works, it will raise the bar even higher.

thats a pretty good deal for all that. mast is about the same price, but you get the harness and ecu, but no front drive. i guess its about a wash. wegner seems to have the edge with the racing background.
