      MSD in a 72 Olds

Where is a good place to pull 12 volts for a MSD box on my 72 Olds. I'm canning the points and I was wondering if I should go straight off the ignition switch on top of the column. Isn't that wire that goes to the coil a resistor wire? I don't want to go off the ignition terminal on the fusebox. I need 12 volts switched for the box and coil.

When I did the MSD 7M box in my 71 Monte Carlo years ago I pulled the Ign for the box direct off the ignition switch. The wire to the coil in the factory harness is a resistance wire and will deliever only 8 volts in run. I would not go off the fuse box for the ignition because all the ports there are fused, so you could be at the side of the road with a dead car and a blown fuse.
