I know the spec sheets say not to run on anything smaller than 10.5 but I am still curious if anyone is running a 315 tire on a 18x10 wheel. I am looking at the Toyo R888 and Nitto tires. I know with the Nitto people say they tend to run small but not sure about the Toyo. Just wanted to check if anyone is and what your opinions are? Thanks

These are 275/40's on a 18x10 rim on a first-gen, General Exclaim UHPs,(I've tried Sumitomos and Kumhos, these STICK like crazy, are cheap, and no squeel!)

The tread is the same width as the rim. It's a tight fit on a first-gen fbody, but with the right backspacing (5.5 w/12 bolt, 6 w/10 bolt) and a fat rear sway bar it works without rubbing, anything bigger it's tub time. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/07/burnout-1.gif

Lots of Mustang guys run the 315/35/17's Nitto 555R's on there stock 17x9 wheels. Its not ideal but works fine. The Nitto 315's or more like a 295 than a 315.

This is what I keep hearing about the Nitto's. Being that these are going on a chevelle I got plenty of room just trying to squeeze the biggest tire I can. I wish they made a 315/35 though instead of 315/30.

Its gonna fit and perform fine, but it might not look right.

that WS will give you an idea of exactly how "baloony" that tire will be on that wheel.

The thing is, if you go with a smaller 315 then is still a smaller looking tire. It wont have that fat azz rear shot you are looking for. Unless you can stand some major side wall bulge. Here is my 285 goodyears on a 10" rim. They are a wide tire for the sizing. I did a ton of looking before I went with the GY tires. I saved abunch of pics with diff combos I saw online. Cause I wanted to use a 315 tire also. If you want Ill shoot some pics to you so you can see some ideas. JR

The R888 comes in a 305/35R18 that is 4.20 inch sidewall. I have them on 18x11s on the rear of my 68.

Actually I started thinking about it and prolly better to give you some links to where I saw alot of examples of 315s on 10" wheels. Instead of posting pics that arent mine. JR
