4L80-E tailhousing question

Hi guys,
If I run a 4l80-E with the bowler tailhousing with mechanical & VSS sensor, must I run the Compushift trans controller?

This will be hooked to a carbed chevy 350.

If you want the transmission to shift automatically you must run a controller.
There are several options for controllers. Compushift, PCS (now TCI), and Baummann.

You could also use a full manual valve body setup and not use a controller. I build many 4L80Es this way for the mostly strip guys but I encourage people to use a controller and get the benefits of the electronic control.
