"New" 2nd Gen Rim/Tire Poll

Thanks for all the input on this delimma!!!

The grey centered CL205s are leading the poll by a 4 to 1 margin!

I'm now looking at either 245/45/18s or 255/40/18s up front with the 285/40/18s out back... rims and tires will run me $2300-$2400.

I just found out I've been select for promotion in the Air Force
to Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) and the wife has given me the
green light for the new rims tires.

Know of any other rim in the $360 per rim range??
It may not be a bunch of money to some but I won't get a second chance at getting this right after the purchase...

What rims are those? Tires??

Is there any problem with the front tires rubbing at all??

Are those brake cooling ducts formed into the quarterpanels???

no, those ducts don't do anything, he has custom T-tops, the shelby scoops you see, a smoothed rear spoiler, and transam vent extractors in teh fenders. Those are boyd coddingtons with yokohama tires. he doesnt' have his frontend back on yet so don't know if it rubs, if it does, he will just put a third gen transam steering box in, that is fast ratio and also reduces your turning limit so it won't rub

Any idea how soon he'll have that front clip back on?
I definitely like the look!!! Just don't want any hassles
with tires rubbing with my new wheel/tire combo.

just deal with it, everything on these cars "rub" its worth it to me, front clip won't be on for a month or 2

My 71 Camaro has had 17x9.5's on all 4 corners. The rears fit fine but the fronts did rub a bit, even after I modified the inner fender wells. I was contacting the sway bar, rubbing paint off. For minimal stress over tweaking I determined that 10" wheels (measuring 11" wide) would fit great on the rear, and if I rolled the lip it would be even better. The front would fit 8.5-9" wheels, but in order to keep them inside the fender lip I needed 19" wheels to clear the tie rod ends, upper ball joint, etc. with no problems at all.

This afternoon I tried a 19x8.5" wheel with 255/35/19's (I think they were 35 series) and 5.5" bs and it fit very well, maybe 5.0-5.25" bs would be better but I did not have a 1/4" spacer handy. The nice thing is that the overall diameter of the tire was about 25.7" and was close to hitting my inner fender well, so a 40 series or larger would definitely hit on my car. It looked great on the car, wish I could have driven it. I did turn the wheels fully each way in order to see frame clearance and everything looked great.

I like my car fairly low, so the tire/wheel package must be inside of the fender lip to eliminate contact. I've had tire rubbage at speed before, not fun and I definitely worried about tire failure at the wrong time...
