Well thanks to all on this site for some renewed interest in a car that i have owned since 87'. My Dad bought this car at a mechanics auction for me:jump:no front end just a bare subframe, and a gaugeless interior. I do not have any pics of it when it came home but it was pretty nice, since it had been in the garage since 79'. I spent many nights and weekends getting the body straight enough to paint black. blasted and painted all the suspension parts red this was in the early 90s. This picture was taken in the fall of last year when the disassembly started.

I had previously minitubed the car probably around 98' but didn't build a proper shock crossmember. So mocking up for a shock crossmember, cutting the trunk floor and welding in a 4''X4'' C-shaped piece and relocating the shocks inboard was in the plans. I also bought a new tank and fabbed up a 1/2" pickup. The old tank had enough funk to kill 3 or 4 fuel systems.:) I spent hours reading on this site and bought some parts that may not be the best for a hard core on the track car, but mine will see little track time and lots of just driving. I built a 355 with the small chamber 461 heads, flat top pistons and a hyd. flat tappet cam holley 750vac sec and performer intake coupled that with a TH400 and the 8.5" diff. that I built with 3.73 gears and posi carrier. Thanks to the search function I didn't even have to post a question.

I read through alot of info on front end set up and mods that worked vs. the amount of money spent. I ended up with stock arms fitted with del-alum bushings then cut the control arm mounting points off and moved the as per Pozzis' site. I welded the sub 100% lightly blasted then on to paint. The firewall got smoothed and clearenced for the comp 9000 cap. I teach auto refinishing at Tulsa Tech in Ok. so I see lots of colors, It was tough to decide on paint scheme I like two tone and a little color to set it off.

I like it too! Is this going to be a single leaf or multileaf rear spring?

The car originally was a mono leaf, but I switched to Hotchkis rear springs with the koni shocks from DSE. I bought a rear disc setup off of Ebay they are the LT1 set up and had to be ground to clear my Weld Rod Lites while building the rear housing I narrowed it since it came out of a second gen, while the housing ends were loose I reclocked them so the brake lines and e-brake cables clear better. Thanks for the complements on the colors, I have seen many spectacular looking cars on this site and just kind of borrowed some ideas. I really like the dash that DSE builds, but the cost was a problem, so I built my own and now can understand the cost I think I have about two weeks labor in that thing. But it really looks great in the car.

Okay I finished the wiring upgrades, battery & solenoid relocated in trunk. Also installed new junctions and relays for thunderbird electric fan and headlamps. pretty much wired it like M.A.D. has on their site. Motor is in and runs but I still need a driveshaft cut and larger u-joint for the 8.5". I am in the process of color sanding the front clip so I can piece it together. I also am welding in subframe conectors like CarlC has on his site. I would like to see the build Carl did on his cheap aircleaner base that sealed to the cowl hood. When he updated his site with the lsx install he removed that DIY section.

More progress, I have the sheetmetal hung on the front and just finished welding in sub connectors. I am just going to roll/brush on epoxy for now, then spot in the paint on the underside and put the sound deadner on the inside. I may be driving this thing next week although I had hoped to be able to attend an event at Tulsa Race Park tomorrow and make a couple of passes. But thats the way it goes.

Thanks guys the wiper relocation is pretty straight forward. I simply cut the old mounting area out then located it inside the fender. It took several attempts to get the extended rod bent so that it moves free without rubbing. I have pics of the firewall so you can see approx. location I could not find pics of the rod to make it connect to the transmision. I cut the factory arm close to the motor then used some 1/4" round bar to make the correct length and heated bent assemble power up and see where it hits and do the heat bent till you get it right. this is not that hard to do and frees up some room right there by the dist.

Well the car is oout of my garage and ready for a front end alignment and some miles to break stuff in. I had it running on stands in my shop and the fuel pump went bad. Which was good timing for something like that to happen. Now for some customer cars to build up the play fund again.

Someone else gets the credit for the wiper relocation, Frank from Prodigy had some of the better pics. I think I saw one done up like mine in the late eighties though. I took the car out for a spin what a huge difference! first to second you have to back out of the gas and second to third it will spin pretty hard. This is without a good tune up, only put cheap gas in it so it has very little timing. I thought I was bad till my neighbor pulled in with his 2010 SS. My car pulled it for the first 300' then he pulled me by a couple of cars.
