Last I heard he had cancer and was stepping away from the business for a while
I heard the same thing and that's terrible news... didn't hear about him leaving the business though.
I bought a set of custom made Boyds thru him and it's been 6 months of delays. I've just about had it. Now they said they'd give me a refund. That refund is 3-4 weeks late. I don't think i'm ever getting my money back or my wheels.
This situation just plain sucks.

I'm not surprised since the Boyd wheel line has had its fair share of drama and delays the past year too....

I ordered from them a few years ago took a little longer than expected Rims were tt2's. But they were good on prices and could always get ahold of them, although things might have changed.
It's been over 6 months... ugh.
They promised today that, again, i'll get my refund check sent out in the mail by end of day. We'll see about that... i've heard all of this before and i'm ready to go full Jihad on them!
Granted the operations people at AR (Boyds) have got their heads up their A$$ that they can't even deliver on custom orders for paying customers. It's been 6+ months and I still have no wheels. Now the car is apart again for the LS1 swap and i'll be lucky if my new brakes fit over my old TT2 16's.
If any vendors out there has any pull with American Racing and can help me get my rears custom made in 6 weeks not 6 months, please let me know. I've already got my front Junk Yard Dogs in my garage waiting for a pair of matching rear shoes.

I ordered a set of Boyds about 2 yrs ago from Tomz. While Tomz had excellent customer service at the time, Boyd sucked. My wheels took about 12 weeks to arrive, and two of them came with dented lips. This didn't happen in shipping either, because the boxes were perfect. Piss-poor QC at the manufacturer.
Got my refund check finally. I hope it doesn't bounce (that's the experience i've had so far...) I'm willing to give Tomz the benefit of the doubt and i'm sure it's mostly the folks at Boyds/AR that's to blame. Although, I wish the vendor would not have waited 6+ months to step up and do the right thing.
My overall impressions are still mixed but i'm glad I have the refund check in hand!
