Last Saturday, May 30th, 2009, the Sciabola Inc AMX/3 reproduction body and Dave Ward chassis attended the SoCalAMX 3rd annual "All AMC Car Show" at the NHRA Museum in Pamona California. This is the best AMC event in Southern California all year and a perfect opportunity to show off the progress on the first reproduction AMX/3. The AMC community has been waiting 40 years to be able to have their own AMX/3 and the most common questions was "what does it weigh?" I have not weighed it yet, but I am not too concerned. When Dave Ward of Precision Welding built this chassis next to the Big Red Camaro he made sure it would be safe, which is what is most important.

It would have been cool had they actually taken it to production.

shiro666, that's a great image of the cat, you made a big statement with few words, thanks.

jackfrost, I am glad you like the AMX/3 reproduction #1, I am obsessed of course, but what fun.

The Stickman, there were only 7 AMX/3's and none of them was even for sale to the public. One of the reasons AMC cancelled the AMX/3 program after putting $2,000,000 into it, is that they had a strike with the UAW and missed production of 30,000 vehicles that year. Fourty years later we are finally getting the opportunity, and with better technology. I tell the other 6 owners of the original AMX/3's that I will be happy to race them through a canyon with my replica, very different technologies.

Yes! Updates!

I have been interested in a historical midship kit car for some time. I have had my heart set on a Lancia Stratos replica, but this takes the cake for awesomeness.

GT40 copies are so easily identifiable. This car would cause pandemonium wherever it went.

I see C4 control arms in the front. What engine and tranaxle are you using in the rear?

I love the look of the car. Until now I had no idea what the AMX/3 is. Very nice!

Original designed by Giotto Bizzarrini, engineer of the fabled Ferrari 250GTO, designer of the Lamborghini V-12, and of course the Iso AC/3 and Bizzarrini marque of cars.... mentioned in his bio's ....

Jackfrost & Shiro666,
Thanks! I will keep the updates coming.

Rhino,
Yes, we are using C4 stuff with adjustable coil overs, Mendeola SDR 5 speed, prototype, soon to be available to the public. For this first one I wanted to win over the hard core AMC crowd, after all this is an AMC design, so I had a 390CID AMC V-8 engine built to around 580HP. Iron heads, iron block. Thanks!

Restomod,
I see you follow the Kit Car forum too, cool. I am on about 12 forums and have my own on www.AMX390.com (http://www.amx390.com/) as well.

BLT2DRIVE,
I have a great respect for the work of the late great Bizzarrini. This design however was from Richard Teague and his design staff at American Motors on Plymouth Road in Detroit. AMC hired Bizzarrini to build them on a limited production basis, which became very limited when they suddenly cancelled the program due to a cash crunch. Only 6 Bizzarrini steel AMX/3 were built. I have the original fiberglass display body that AMC made out of fiberglass at the beginning of the project. There are some differences since Bizzarini made some modifications, for example there are 19 louvers on the rear deck lid of my original prototype and 11 on the Bizzarrini cars.
