I made me a rear deck so I could blend in the GTO rear seats, along with making a nice place to mount the speakers.
The rear seats I cut down and re-welded the frame so the height better matched the stock seat height.
Now all I need to do is make the arm rest/filler on the sides, have the headliner installed and sail panels covered.
Not sure if I should do head liner material or the "leather" material on the sail panels.

Did you leave the GTO stitching in the front seats or have that panel covered or replaced. What did you do on the outside edges of the rear seat.

Would love to know more about the mods made to the seat frame, i am using the same seats for the rear of gsx. I have the bottoms fitted but the backs are way to tall. I was thinking of cutting about 5 1/2 inches out about 3/4 of the way up. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I had removed about 3-4 inches from the bottom of the the frame and cut the foam from the bottom.

I used expanding foam to blend between the rounded seat backs the the flat rear deck. I then covered with padding, I used a batting material but I should have used a foam type. I say this because the batting bunched up a little and caused a little bit of wrinkle when I rolled and glued.

I too am interested in updating my rear seat in my '68 Chevelle. Has anyone tried this with a convertible yet? Thanks.

I also have a 68 Convertible Chevelle. I have already purchased the rear seat on ebay and I am looking for more information on what needs to be done to make it fit. Thanks

Looks good. I like the blend to the top of the back seats. I have a 67 Chevelle, the same GTO seats and will be doing the same thing...

I realized that I need to add an update.
If I was going to do the rear deck again I would to a one piece panel across the face that mates to the back of the seat (the bulged part) I would also only use a thin foam padding between the MDF and the simu-leather.

Thanks for the help and all the photos you have supplied us. They have been a great help. I really want to add the GTO seats to my car. My problem is the width.... I assume they are not as wide as an original. What did you do? Any Chance you could post a few pictures? Any help would be great! or you can just email them to me

I am currently adding the rear seats in a 65 GTO- I am cutting the center section and moving the seats outboard to match the fronts. i will have to make a wider center section and about 3" wide bolsters on the outsides of the seats

I used a 1" spacer under the GTO mount.

Is that for all 4 holes on the track? Did you do any cutting or just spacers?

Thanks

I think I only used them on the back 2 bolts. But it will vary as I moved mine back a few inches to gain room for my long legs.

if you are asking for the front I used these brackets on the rear part for the seat.

Yes it is what I'm asking about. What are they and where did you get them from?

The seat tracks bolt to these and the plate are only attached to the back bolts? Any ohter mods needed to mount these?

Thanks

These are made from aluminum. the seat brackets bolts threaded bolt holes the oval ones mount to the car. You can drill you own holes to make it work. I am not done just need a bit of trimming on the seat bracket.

Greeding from Kandahar AFGHNISTAN,

Hello to everyone out there, I am writing to see if anyone know how to get in touch with Shannon Walters of Interiors By Shannon. I tried the email address [email protected], with no responce, wanted to see if he makes and sell the console in the Black 71 chevelle with red interior on his wedsite. I wanted to put the same console in my 70 chevelle, but with 04-06 GTO seats, or if anyone knows of a simular console out there. If anyone can help, I really would appreicate it.

Thanks for all the info, sure has helped me make up my mind to do this swap. Just a quick idea for the gap left on the sides, I have a set of arm rests for a 66 convertible which are about 3.5 inches wide, I think these would fill the gap nicely. My car is a sedan but somewhere down the line these along with a convertible bench were installed for some reason. I am definately going to do some more detailed measuring, I think along with a wider center section and the vert. armrests the seats would fit nicely. Thanks again for the great info and pics....I will post some pics of my arm rests, may help someone come up with a idea for fabrication.
