Thinking about doing it myself - how long would it take me if I followed one of those rebuild DVD's?

To do one correctly, even with the proper tools, it is a 10-12 hr job.
Doing it your first time, it will take longer probably.

And to be completely fair, I would EXPECT to have to do it twice.

It isn't a good unit to learn on but it can be done.

If you need any parts, rebuild kit, tech advice, etc let me know.

I would recommend as you remove the parts, lay them out in the
order they came out and take lots of high res digital pictures to refer to. An auto trans can be overwhelming with the number of parts. I've taken the same model trans apart many times and at least for me it's amazing how easy it is to forget just how it goes back together exactly if you haven't done it in a while, much less
the first time.

The video should help you a lot. Go for it!
