Okay, I knew I wanted some 18" mesh style wheels. So, got some 18" CCW Classics. Love them. Now, working on the 6.0l/t56 swap, the car's been setting for awhile and I keep looking at other wheels, like the Rushforths in black (esp since the deal is going on) or some other high dollar wheels. Why can't I be happy with my CCW's. They look great but yet I'm wanting something else. Anybody else go through this and should I just finish the car and stick with what I have or buy something else? I'm happy with the CCW's but when I see other wheels

I'd go with the "just in time" parts delivery scheme - order what you need about a week before you need (not want) to install it. Anyone who builds a car (including me) could save $1,000's doing this.

Not to give you any bad ideas, but it can be good for a car to have an extra set of wheels so you can run your street tires on one set and save your competition tires for events on the other set . . . I didn't say anything

Yup. I'm with Mike:

Stockpiling is for Squirrels (http://www.maxchevy.com/columns/parsons/iii_3-parsons-1.html)

Of course, even if you follow that philosophy, you might still find yourself upgrading your car when you're "done". :)

That is a good philosphy and probably should have used that. I know I have a few parts that I bought and sold b/c of doing things different. What sucks is it's easier for me to buy parts then to go work on the car :) I mean I have everything I need to get the car driving or pretty much everything, but yet I still check out the For sale thread daily:yum:

Well, better get into the garage and off here. Thanks for the tips and yeah, that screen name is gonna be the death of me!!

doesn't everyone have 4-5 sets of wheels per car...?

The idea of not buying stuff ahead of time is great, but one problem is that until you have all the parts bolted on you don't know if they will all work together.

I think we are all guilty of it at one time or another during these builds. Kind of like me, I have a perfectly good LT1/4l60E in my car with all of the bugs worked out. I have a L92 crate motor with a rebuilt t56 sitting next to it taking up alot of space in my garage (get grief from the wife every day BTW). Something about her not being able to park her car in the garage :nopity::bananna2: Nothing wrong with the LT1, just wanted a change, unfortunatley its a pretty expensive one though.
