We would like to introduce the first in a wheel line we are proud to be apart of, "New Gen Wheels". New Gen Wheels came to me and asked for help achieving their dream. What was that dream? To produce a custom built, forged, billet wheel that could replace the lessor quality cast designs of the past, with the versatility of modern sizing, and finishes, and offer an alternative to the quintessential "pro-touring" wheel designs available today.

New Gen wheels are two piece construction, rotary forged 6061-t6, and available in step lip and soft lip. Yes, step lip too!

Finishes include, full polished (shown), brushed, powder coat (titanium, black, gun metal, etc.), and clear coat.

Step Lip sizes include:
15x7, 15x8, 15x10, 16x7, 17x7, 17x8, 17x9.5, 18x7,18x8, 18x9.5, 20x8, 20x9.5 (or custom widened widths)

Soft Lip sizes include:
17x7, 17x8, 17x10, 18x7, 18x8, 18x9, 18x10, 19x8, 19x10, 20x8.5, 20x10 (or custom widened widths)

This is the first wheel of five designs. It is called the "Thrasher". This is an 18x12, built to clear 6 piston Baer brakes and are going on a mini tubbed 69 Camaro. Now you can have classic design, modern construction, to fit the most common upgrades being made to your classic muscle car.

Now for the kicker! Pricing is surprising affordable considering the 3d milling, two piece, billet construction! Call for pricing details! More to come from New Gen wheels as we continue to build new sets, and designs.

What's the difference in a step lip verses a soft lip?

What is the backspacing limits on the 17X10 wheel?

I am curious on price for 2-17x8 & 2-17X10.

Not bad looking at all. Has a nice blend of classic and modern. Best of luck to those guys. I can only imagine bringing a wheel company into market isn't easy.

SoftLip is what you see most commonly now where the front wheel lip is completely smooth, and the valve stem is on the backside of the rim. Step lip, or standard lip as some call it, is where the front wheel lip has a step in it, and the valve stem is most commonly found on the front wheel lip. I'll PM you a price on 17".

Definitely a sweet looking wheel. I had the opportunity to see the first wheel design in person and the workmanship is superb considering the affordable pricing. What's also nice is the ability to get a classic looking wheel in custom widths. Jon best of luck with launching the new wheel line!

Sent you a quote with Nitto 555s. 7s are a little narrower than I would typically go for a 70 Chevelle, but understand if you are going for that big/little look. So I quoted 225 fronts, with a 285 rear. There are other options if you so desire. We've gone as far as 9s on the front and 10s on the rear with 275s and 305s. :)

Photography is taking time, as it always does, but I might try and post a candid shot tomorrow. Look for two more designs to be added after this in the next few weeks. All of which are available for purchase NOW. We already have a handful of Thrasher sets out there. I should have a set of 18's done for a Chevelle this Monday, and two more sets coming out late next week.
I'll keep you posted guys, I can't wait to get them out there for you to see either... :)

Here is the second wheel to be milled, and added to the New Gen Line.

The "Splitter".

Further Information:
Take note of the the 3D milling on our New Gen Wheels. Every contour, and detail cut takes extra time in the mill, adding compound curves to the spoke and overall detail. The sides of the spokes are curved, the area between the lugs are curved and the window framing is also curved. Also, the perimeter of the wheel is beefed up and adds added structural support to evenly distribute weight under load.

More photos to come. I just shot these quickly at the end of the day today as soon as they were out of polish. Look for more photos next week as I will be taking them in for photography this weekend.

Enjoy!

Without a doubt yes! We are currently building a set of Splitters, with a matte black center in 20s for a 65 Impala. Will be SWEET.

That's one of the best things about the NewGen line, classic, clean, Nostalgic design, but now custom built to whatever offset, width, diameter and finish you want. Titanium? Sure. Matte black? No problem.
18x12 to fit a minitub and a pad long enough to clear 6 piston brakes? All day long!

Back to muscle car styled wheels for your muscle car... for the guys who do not appreciate rivets, flat spokes, and bmw wheels. Now, there is a forged, billet, custom built alternative.

Thanks everyone. PM's have been returned to all those that asked for a quote. The detail that went into the machining of the wheel with its curves and contours really set the wheel apart. I can't wait to do a set in brushed. I think that will really bring this wheel to life.

Jon,

You already know of my issues on the other (https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56885)thread... This might be the ticket. It looks similar enough to the Boyd Junk Yard Dog I already have for the fronts. I'm loosely considering putting these on the rear even if they're a mismatch. That's how desperate I am :(. If i do a staggered 17/18 maybe they'll work.

Can you do these in a special sandblasted finish? Boyd calls it the "old school finish".

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

DriverzInc
06-15-2009, 03:25 PM
Yes, I can sand blast them for you. 75.00 dollars a wheel. We would clear powder coat them in matte clear to lock in the aluminum after they are blasted. You know, the Curtis Speed wheel would be a closer match though, and I know we can do those in the sand blasted finish too. Boyds JYD is a concave (dished) wheel, and so is the Curtis Speed wheel.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/06/Spikecast-1.jpg

Unless of course you just like the NewGen wheel, and eventually want to replace your fronts with it too. Whatever works for you, but I'm thinking you might have a closer match with the Curtis Speed wheel if you want to try and match the fronts.

Let me know either way, we can make it happen for you.

Wheel diameter? Do yo uhave any pics of some wheels on an old chevelle or a-body car?

Tim,
Ask me this question about 6 months from now, and I know we will. The photos you are seeing are literally the FIRST wheels in these designs, so nothing out there yet in different finishes other than polished. I have a set of black Splitters that should be done in the next week or two for a 65 chevelle, and a Brushed Splitter and Titanium Thrasher all in the works, but the brand is literally new, so we don't have wheels out on cars and photography of them on cars yet. We will soon... maybe your car will be one of the firsts?

Well I know they will look killer. Now what size do you recommend for a 72 Chevelle. 17, 18, 20, or mix sizes? Rear tires I would like something in the 295, 305 range, front 245-275. the car will be used for cruising and showing off. Would like to take the car on the power tour when I get it done of corse.

You sold me my wheels on my 79 Malibu and i could not be more pleased with your expertease.

I noticed in the gallery on your website a white chevelle with a black vinyl top with some large meats, this seems to be what I've been looking to do with my '69, would you happen to know if these would fit a stock dimension chassis? Are these 17 or 18's and what size tires? Also do you have any side profile pics? Loking to buy new shoes for the chevelle and need some professional help. The 10 spoke will be ready tomorrow, possibly Monday or Tuesday before I have it through the polish shop, and photographed. The others are still in rendering stages.

On a 69 Chevelle, I really like the 18x10 in the rear with the 305, but that is a Nitto size, and as stated above, you're not a fan, which is fine, no problem. The BFG is a 295, which is only a 10mm difference in width, which is not a whole lot asthetically... its just the number on the sidewall that would show any difference. A 315 in an 18" is just not ideal for your car.

I'm not a fan of M/T tires on a street car, and I'm not a big fan of the BFG KDW2, or M/T sportsman tires myself... I just don't like the looks of them, but that's my personal preference. I understand the appeal, they are just not for me.

I will post a photo of the 10 spoke as soon as it is out of polish. If you want to see the others in rendering form, send me an email: [email protected]

So here is the next installment from New Gen Wheels...

The "Decenio":

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/07/NewGens_Decenio_BLKSplitter026-1.jpg

Beautifully 3D milled, which is how the rounded spoke is milled, and the concave valleys surrounding the lug area are achieved. A full radius contact with the outer, leaves no corners between the center and the outer for dirt to get trapped. (Easy to clean, cuz I'm a detail freak.)

Also, here is a quick shot of the "Splitter" powder coated in matte black. I think it really highlights the detail in the spokes. The center caps will ship matte black as well, with the NewGen logo milled after powder coating, so the cap will match the center, but I thought I"d throw a polished cap in there for now to show the wheel.

Jon - love the new designs. The black face isn't for me but they're still pretty popular out there. I notice the gold faces are starting to come back but probably doesn't fit the retro look of most 60s-70s muscle.

If I can chime in though... i've always liked the old Panasport look, strength, and weight but in bigger sizes. If you have any influence on future designs that's where my vote goes!

I can't wait to finish my build so I can finally start focusing on my wheels again. That process is giving me a headache. If only money wasn't an issue!

btw... Vintage Wheels works comes close with their V48 but not quite. I believe they only come in 17s too.

RYU,
I'm already far ahead of you. Look for a design like the one you mentioned, but in 3d milled billet in the near future.
Ya, I'm kinda worn out on black wheels too, but on the right car, they are a must. For example Johnny's Tempest just "needs" black wheels, and the car these wheels are going on is a black 65 Impala on AirRide, so its just a good "fit".

Johnny,
Decenios are going to look SICK. I'm glad you like them as much as you do. I'm very excited about them. I think they are the perfect mix of Smooth and Clean vs. Pro-touring and Muscle.

Those Descenios are absolutely beautiful. Did you mention a comp grey option?

I am very impressed with this wheel line. Great look for our cars and a great value as well.

Jon,
I'm very interested in a price on the Decenio for my 69 Camaro. 18x? w/ ? BS Front and 19x? w/ ? BS rear. The wells and suspension are un-modified. I'll let you tell me the width of the wheels. I have 275-35-19 and 235-40-18 tires now and would like to keep that size.

Just came across this old thread and loved the wheels. Wondering if they are still in business. I could find any of them on the web.
