Specifically Firebirds, specifically 11's in the rear. Im pretty sure Ive seen it done, though people on other forums are telling me it cant, I know here, nothing is impossible, lol. Its been a long time since Ive been here, hopefully I can get some good info, and this time I'll be here to stay! Im looking for the late '80's type ZR1 wheels, the 17x9.5's for fronts and 11's for the rears. I KNOW I'll need adapter/spacers, but so what, that's no big deal. Im relatively certain Firebirds can swing 11's back there with a little seat belt budge "nudge" and maybe rolling the fender lip. I know Camaro's body lines are limiting when it comes to this...but I dont own a Camaro either. Oh, they would be going on a '71 Firebird btw.

I just sold a complete set of ZR1's. It can be done with some big spacers. I just wasnt keen on that idea.

Right. I know 6" bs is what I'll have to aim for to squeeze them in. So if anyone has actually done it, has them on their car and can tell me the size spacer needed, which offset ZR1 wheel they have, etc. that would be appreciated!

Backspace should be more like 5.7" if the rearend is square in the chassis.
Which brings me to:
You need to measure to see if the rearend is mounted evenly in the car before you try to install tires this big.

Ditto on what Brett said. You gotta measure your car to see if they can fit. I test fit a set of wheels of a C5 Z06 on my car. Here's a couple shots.

The tire size out back was 315/30-18. It fits, but it's TIGHT. Measure your own car. Around a 2.5" adapter might work out back, but measure to be sure. Also, know that because of the difference in the wheel arch between the Camaro and the Firebird, it's a little easier to get the wider tire on the Firebird.

Yeah, I plan on taking very careful measurements...when I get that far. Right now Im looking to see if its been done successfully, by anyone.
ZBugger, I dont know enough about C5 Z06 wheels, lol, are those 11"? Im searching locally trying to find somebody with a set of ZR1's to let me test fit, take measurments, etc. I dont plan on buying anything until Ive done that, and made sure my axle is square, but that's all easy stuff once I see its possible. And yeah, Ive heard that too about the Camaro's and the cursed body line causing problems, so if what you're showing me are 11's on a Camaro, that gives me hope. Is a 2.5" spacer what you used on your car? (dont worry, Im not going to run out and buy a set and blame you later, just looking for info). Is that a '74? Im trying to judge by the bumper, but Id hardly call myself a Camaro expert, but I do admire them.

You know, I didn't measure the wheels. I just wanted to see if they actually fit. I was just happy that they did. My car is a '77 and the adapter I used was 2.75". I think the 2.5" would be a little better for me.

That caught me off gaurd when you said that, I was thinking '77 had rubber bumpers, but that did'nt start until '78 did it? My car is actually originally a Cali car, I had to have it shipped here, there's no such thing as a '70's car here that's not more rust than metal. I dig beaters, as proof, lol, here's mine.
Here's my list of excuses:
1. the plate is just literally sitting in the grill 'cause Im replacing the splash pan currently (though not removed in the pic) Since the plate is visible in the pic, please blur it in your mind.
2. yes the scoop is just screwed to the hood, I had to cut a hole for the intake and carb, and for inspection, that has to be covered. It is a temporary measure, I assure everybody
3. the Edelbrock sticker on the fender is a joke at the local ricers that stuck, literally.
4. the black on the rear tire is from initial tuning of the overly rich carb, its all good now.
But look at those wheels and tires!!! Can you see, I need help!!!

Those Vette wheels look badass on that Camaro..just not a huge fan of wheels spacers either.
