      stock looking 1" bore

Does anyone know what gm master witha 1" bore would bolt up to the stock 11" booster on a 68 firebird? The 70 corvette power booster I got has a 1 1/8th" bore.
      thanks
      Scott

68-76 corvette with MANUAL brakes -- 1" bore and bolts right up to early GM boosters that need the "deep hole" master cylinders (long pushrod boosters)

Isn't the booster in this case a short throw?

Not if it's the stock setup. At least, not if it's the same as the 67-69 camaro. 1st gen camaros (and I'm assuming firebirds) use the "long pushrod" booster and deep-hole master. While playing around with different brake setups, I put the early vette "manual" master on my '69 and it definitely bolts right up.

If you have a short pushrod booster and a deep pushrod MC you can always run a spacer in the MC piston counterbore to set the correct length. I know that some companies include them in their booster/MC kits, so I have to believe someone might sell just the spacers, but if not, they shouldn't be too difficult to make IMO.

I just went thru this, switching to a new master on a shallow pushrod hole booster. Had the 1 1/4 and wanted a 1" bore MC, and chose the 68-70 manual, which is a deep pushrod hole as you all know (my app = 68-72 a-body tho).

***I would love to find a source for the 'spacer', and would buy several just to have on hand. ****

I made my own from suggestions from Noel at Touring Specialties, out of a 3/8" grade 8 bolt. I used a drill bit to 'dimple' the head for the booster rod to sit in, ground the head of the bolt round, and made the end of the bolt rounded some too. Looks like a bullet really! Anyway, I snuck up on the length by grinding and test-fitting, until I had the same depth of the shallow MC....

Alright, if that master is what the actual z28 used it was 1 and 1/8". Everything I look at from the US costs more for shipping than the actual masters or master/booster so all the ebay 1 inch masters are out. I'm getting a camaro booster and manual vette master. I hope that should work. I've been told by many that the 1 and 1/8th master should work on my c5/lt1 set up but I've also read/been told that its too big. The bigger bore would be a lot easier than bugging the crap out of my local parts guy. Anybody with experience using the c5/lt1 setup and power brakes?

Tobin says 1" and Tito says manual vette so that's where I am going next.
