I got a great deal on bucket seats from a wrecked 2005 Tiburon. I do need some help with mounting them in my Cutlass. The seat tracks are spaced on the very outer edge of the seats, plus the seats seem a bit wider then factory buckets. This is causing the door side track to hit the 'hump' in the floor board, and the seat cannot be mounted centered because of this.

My thought is... to remove the mounting 'foot' and space it over an inch. This will allow me to mount the seat centered behind the steering wheel.
My guess is those two mounting 'studs' are hardened, and I don't think I'll be able to drill them out. Think a grinder will work?

Then I'd use a piece of 1/8" (thicker you think?) steel, and make a mounting bracket out of it. Bolt it to the factory track with two grade 8 bolts, then bolt the 'foot' the the bracket I just made.
So basically, in the below picture, the foot would be spaced in 1 inch.

Would there be any strength issues with this? Think I should get it all welded once I confirm fitment?
