12 bolt 68 RS/SS rear end Value?

I have an orginal 12 bolt rear end out of a 396 68 RS/SS. What is it worth? It needs to be blasted and coated to look new.

what gears? Posi or no? how many splines is the axles. Are their any mods? Is it complete drum to drum?
I would guess around $1200.00

It would be helpful to get the date and casting codes off of the differential... and the build code off of the passenger side tube.

To get top dollar, you need to know what you have first. If you have enough information, and you found the right buyer... it could go for between $1000 to $1800+... depending on what you have. Who is the right buyer ?? That depends... if un-modified, the purest... if modified, it would depend on the modifications. The purest really wont care if its a posi or what gear ratio it has, because all they want is the housing with the correct date codes. Anyone else... and they are really looking for the posi, the ratio, if the tubes are welded etc... etc.

Find out what you have and market it accordingly.

FWIW... 12 bolts only came with 30 spline axles, so that isnt something that you need to advertise. And... Craig's List seems to be getting the highest dollar amount for 12 bolts these days.
