What started out as a simple restoration sort of snowballed in to a restomod, then quickly became a full custom.
This 65 is 1 of 2 that we plan on finishing for Columbus this year. Although we know the competition is stiff, we can only hope to at least place. The "touring" cars is a new ave. for us as we typically live in the street rod market.
Anyhow, here's a few pics and I welcome all comments, positive or negative.
I have a few pics of the chassis I'll post, but here's a shot I like of it getting ready to go under the car.

early stages of motor mock up
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/03/DSC05524-1.jpg
rather than welding the chassis to the body, we opted to make custom mounts (not shown, the washers are for mock up) that will make for less road noise and nicer overall feel to the car.

you can sort of see here where the tunnel is flared for the exhaust. The exhaust runs under the drive shaft then exits and go through the frame.

you can see here the drip rails are shaved already. Here is Geoff working on the door gaps.

A cool little door pull was added ( I call it the change holder)

handles and locks shaved...

Custom center console
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/03/DSC05987-1.jpg
This is a good shot to see how the chassis sits. On most full frame Mustangs you lose precious seat height. The way we do ours you can channel the body right inside the door line, and retain full leg room.

The car was really missing something. Oh, I know, how about a set of side scoops. These have the matching mesh that is in the new grill
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/03/DSC06790-1.jpg
the rear ended up getting a new panel and the rear bumper was narrowed and recessed.

here's a shot of the rear. A custom set of led's were made. they look pretty sweet
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/03/DSC06979-1.jpg
here's an under shot of the hood scoop. It's functional and retains the factory contour under the hood of the bracing.

we really wanted to stay away from the big scoop thing, once it's all painted, i think the hood and all the proportions are going to look fantastic.

I love the metal work, great car.
One thing I wonder about the rear bumper is why doesn't someone just weld and smooth all the seams up so it looks like one piece. I think it would really finish the rear of the car off.

the rear end really needs some contrast. If we welded up and smoothed it out completely, it would end up being a monochromatic theme, which we are staying away from. The bumpers will be chromed and will ass a nice flair.

Really nice work, this is going to look awesome in paint. Any renderings?
And is this being done at Scott's Rods?

I do have renderings, but they are all hand drawn and my dang scanner's busted. I'll go get one next week.
I'll definitely try to keep you guys updated. Yes, the work is being done here at Scott's Hotrods. We are actually building 2 65's. I'll start another thread with that one. It's just as sick.

**Update**
Car is primed and about to be blocked. the plan is to have it shot by next week. BASF Glasurit is sponsoring all of the paint products for us. Our painter REALLY enjoys shooting their stuff.
