Well I just picked up a '69 Camaro a few weeks ago. I've been searching the internet for information/ ideas on what I'd like to do with this thing. I stumbled upon this site and found a lot of good tech and some great ideas so I thought I'd join the community here.

Here she is when I found her....

I was on my way home from work one night and happened to see this Camaro sitting in a driveway a few blocks from my house. I'd never seen the car there before. As I drove by I caught a glimpse of the for sale sign. So I had to stop to find out more. 3 days later I brought it home. She runs good and drives like a '60s muscle car. But I'm gonna make her much better.

So I've got lots of ideas in my head. I don't know if they are all possible yet or not. I think just about anything is possible given enough time and money. But I have a lot of reading and searching online to do for now.

So far a few things I'm thinking of doing are as follows.
LS3 - I'd like to be able to keep the AFM
6 speed auto - 6l80e?
Upgraded front and rear suspensions. I like the DSE stuff but its a bit pricey.
4wheel disc big brakes with hydro-boost
A nice stout rear end. axle that is :rotfl:

Anyways I wanted to get a build thread started before I did anything to the car. I like to keep track of what I've done. Plus I'd love to hear input from people who have already been there done that. I'll keep this updated anytime I do things to the car. I'm a picture fanatic. Any updates will be slow for now though as I'm finishing up another project before I do much of anything on this one.

Sweet!
I thought the days of seeing first gen Camaro's sitting for sale in driveways were over.

Nice pick up.
Here are a couple of very helpful First Gen Camaro specific sites that have helped me a lot...
Team Camaro http://www.camaros.net/forums/index.php
and the Camaro Research Group http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php
Good luck.

There is a little rust in the drivers side rear wheel well, and inner fender. And the trunk floor has a soft spot. That's all I've been able to find so far. Hopefully there are no surprises when the paint gets stripped. The rear window was leaking at one point and someone tried to seal it with what looks like clear caulking.

So I'm already rethinking the LS3. I like to be different. And there is no shortage of LS powered first yen Camaros. Anyone have any cool ideas for a powerplant? And a $20,000 twin turbo motor is out of the question.

That's a nice motor. I'd like to be able to jump in this thing for a weekend trip though and not wonder if it's going to make it home, or cost me $1,000 in gas either. That's why I was thinking of the LS3 initially.

My last car had a built 6.0 LQ4 based engine, and they are some of the easiest engines to work on! I know where you are coming from though - recently I purchased a rolling '69 Camaro from a board member and decided to go with a fuel injected BBC over the LSx platform. Seems like almost everyone is going with an LSx based engine these days (can't say I blame them, though).

Thin you need to start with what do you want the motor to be? Big difference between a BBC 402 and a SBC 400 is visual impact, weight, and possibly fuel economy. Similiar difference between sbc and ls. What are your plans for he car- it will help dictate engine selection

On my 2nd gen I stuck w/ a ZZ4 sbc and added aftermarket FI, very little bling, almost industrial appearance. Still gets over 20 mpg on the road
