I have the adapter brackets for the C5 caliper to a b-body spindle. You guys have convinced me not to go this route. So, will the same bracket adapt the C5 calipers to a g-body spindle? If not, who makes one?

Yes, I've read all about the S10 spindle swap. I have b-body spindles I can't use now and I don't really want to add my stock g-body spindles to the same pile since the S10 don't add any improvement in handling.

Thanks

Why don't you want to use the B body spindles?

I ordered the upper a-arm from Global West a few years ago and unbeknownst to me at the time, was sent the wrong arms. I've called and emailed them and get no resolution to the situation. The correct GW arms from Summit are $500. I thought about getting the SPC arms from Marcus at SC&C but that's a little over $300.

Since it looks like I can do better using the stock g-body spindle with the taller ball joints and differant adapter bracket, that's the route I'd go

I am open to all ideas at this point.

Here's what I have for my 86 Cutlass:

b-body spindles and adapter bracket, C5 calipers and 13" rotor, alum hub.

I also still have all the stock g-body spindles and brakes installed on car. I have the GW bushings in both the upper and lower arms.

I also have the stock type Global West a-arms (CTA-88A). These are not for the b-body swap that I ordered them for. They are for the stock g-body spindle.

Should I:

#1 Get the a-arms from Marcus to run the b-body spindle?

#2 Use the GW arms with the stock g-body spindle and get a differant adapter bracket? If I go this route, I thought I add the taller ball joints, either upper or lower or both.

Which setup would give me the best handling in a street only car?

Not sure what you should do, but I would definetly call my credit card company & file a complaint that you have not received the proper parts you ordered & that you cannot get them to return your calls. Then tell them you want them to refund you the charge & have them go after Global West for the $$. Then I bet they will wake up & do something.

Scot

I bought these arms several years ago. It was probably 4-5 years ago. At the time, I knew there were differant arms for the stock g-body spindle and the b-body spindles. I just didn't know the differances visually. I've thought all this time I DID have the correct ones. I told them when I ordered them that I was doing the b-body swap. (I ordered these the old fashioned way, I called them on the phone and gave them my debit card number.)

The arms I have are CTA-88A. Global West is having a sale on these right now for $589.25 You can see them here:

http://www.globalwest.net/1978-88_Chevelle,_G-body_G-plus_standard_coil_spring_tubular_arms..htm

SummitRacing has them for $579.95

The arms I need are the CNR-88A

These arms are in as delivered, un-used and un-installed condition. Make me an offer! I'm reasonable.

So, does anyone know who makes a bracket for the C5 caliper for the g-body spindle?

I thought Kore3 used to sell them but I don't see them on their website. You might try calling them.

I think the G body spindle is what Kore 3 refer to as the short spindle (they list tall, short, and ATS IIRC)

I agree the G body spindle is referred to as a short spindle, but Kore3's definition of the brackets for the short spindle do not match the Monte. The main thing that catches my eye is it says there is no machining required.

Here is the full info:
# KORE3 GM Short-Spindle kit is designed for forged short-spindles only, of which there are three (3) variations as described below. GM made a fourth short-spindle design that is not compatible with this kit. The spindle is cast, not forged, and can be readily identified by the integral cast caliper mounts and steering arms. We currently do not offer a kit for this spindle application, however it can be swapped to the forged GM short-spindle or converted to the GM tall-spindle if you are interested in adapting KORE big-brakes to your car.

# Kit is 100% bolt-on. No welding, cutting, or grinding necessary if KORE3 components are used.

# Minimum Ø17" wheels are required for caliper to wheel clearance. Not all Ø17" wheels will fit. Please verify fitment prior to ordering using the appropriate KORE3 fitment template. Wheel fitment is the buyer's responsibilty. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your specific application or the proper use of the templates.

And here are the pics they show for the short spindle:

These all look like old front drum spindles to me, as well as the image below:

Got it, thanks Doug. I apologize for the delay but I'm swamped with work and car stuff right now so I'm running behind in replies and responses. Thanks!
