Posting this for my buddy Erik since I shot some pics when I gave him a helping hand last week.
Introducing a overseas '68 Camaro located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Three years and counting body off restauration. A turbo-ed SBC, 6 speed manual, Moser rear end. Erik will post the details. All parts from Frank @ Prodigy.

Thanks Cliff for posting the pictures!!

I drove the car for 5 years before I started disambling it.
I was in shock off what came above. That's when I decided to go all the way.

It got a new trunk floor, rear frame, floores, tail panel. The subframe was very bad, it had rotten mounting holes.

looks like some heat absorbing stuff.. for the welding... not to warp panels from heat.

Parts have to come over sea's, so it can take some time before they are here. Because of the shippingtime by boat (big parts), that takes 4 to 6 weeks, and if we have luck at the boarder. Otherwise it may stay there for a time. And you have to pay about 30% taxes.

Yes that is heat absorbing stuff.

Turbu system is a draw thru with a 2 pice intake manifold, at low rpm it works NA, at higher rpm it closes 2 valves and it is under boost, in the intake it hase a boost geard set at 9 psi.

Wow, that turbo set up looks crazy! Thanks for sending me the link.

This car defines "Crate Camaro" as I think we have sent you a Camaro in 10 crates, lol!

Everyone in ths states, you cannot imagine how difficult it is to do this in a country that does not even have a parts book with a listing for a Camaro! There is no NAPA, Classic Industries, or Prodigy Customs in Amsterdam.

Erik, your doing a great job. We have another crate coming your way soon. Lisa says we plan to come take a ride when it is finished.

After the rear got a POR15 treatment we decided to install the axles and Wilwood rear disc kit.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/03/Digitalefotos0671-1.jpg

The Camaro will still have a staggered shock set up. To prevent any caliper-shock clearance problem Frank advised to rotate and flip the rotor bracket. To accomplice the same configuration as the passenger site we even got the bracket up one treaded hole in the backingplate.

Small update from across the pond.
The body was set in epoxy primer a while ago. To finish the bottom inside and outside a stonechip protection has been used

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/04/Digitalefotos097-1.jpg

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

On top of that a primer and a black top coat of paint, turned out real great.

The next step will be putting back the body on the subframe and rear next week!!!

After a major delay from a Dutch parts supplier for some 3" drop DSE leafs we got an update. We made a big step on Erik' Camaro (almost witnessed a big man cry ). It's a ROLLER!!!
The body has been put on the fully prepped subframe, 12 bolt Moser, leafs, rear sway bar and subframe connectors welded and bolted in. TTII for mock up only.
The firewall was treated a coat of epoxy primer.

Nice!

It will be very interesting to me how well your draw through setup works.

If I recall correctly, I read they have a little extra turbo lag compared to blow through. The extra lag could improve MPG if it allows the driver to make entering boost a more deliberate act. That could be desirable on a street car.

If you want to run a working cowl induction system, that should be fairly easy to setup after dealing with any height changes vs. stock cowl induction.

Another nice part about draw through is you still have vacuum upstream of the turbo, when the turbo is in boost. I imagine you could run a standard brake booster as long as it can handle the elevated vacuum that the draw side of the turbo should create.

I have a lightly used draw through system like yours that I may end up using to keep costs down. It uses an adapter that sits between the carb or throttle body and a standard intake manifold. It was barely used and came out of a turbo SBC RV. For $300, I got a rajay turbo, both exhaust manifolds (one OEM turbo flanged), the exhaust cross over pipe, the intake adapter, the piping to/from the turbo, and a boost gauge! It has been boxed up for ~18+ years.

On the one hand, I doubt the turbo I have will spool up as quickly a recently designed one. On the other hand, once boost kicks in, I'm guessing handling, tuning, and controlling the old turbo's boost will be more of a limiting factor than the dated turbo. It is sized a little on the small side which should help lag at the expense of a little total power.

If STS can apparently design a rear mounted turbo system with little lag, one would think low lag should be achievable using a draw through turbo that is mounted only inches from the engine, especially given the advances in turbo design improving spool up.

If you take a look at the picture below you'll see 6(only 4 1/2 at the picture) openings at low rpm they will be open and the engine will work normal and will not breathe through the turbo, at higher rpm the turbo will spool and draw the mixer through the turbo and will push against the metal flaps under the 6 holes and will close them, now the engine will see boost, and should not have any turbo lag

Is it normal to fill the void where the quarter and roof meet permanently?

It’s been a while, made some small progress brake line’s (it’s was a pain in the …. to get some 3/8 male to 7/16 female fittings for the brake line’s over here) and fuel line are under the car all stainless, also mounted the gas tank, driveshaft and the correct cross member.

And picked up some new carbon fiber parts last weekend, got some great help from Manal at Anvil very nice to deal with.
Anyone with some experience with using the anvil hoods and not using hood pins? They recommend using hood pins ( but I like the hood better without hood pins)

Havened done anything for a while, but last week I had my rear seat redone in the same style as the sparco milano seats, they came out better then I expected. Today I received some parts from Anvil, they are top-notch

I also thought is was. But I remembered Mike from Musclerodz was working on one. And yes, he finally finished it. Looks awesome, just like the rest of Erik's car! Very nice!

Keep on building Erik, maybe we can join our cars in Muiden next year.

Got some work on the body done, had to do some welding to get the seams between the doors and the fenders fit nice.
And I decided not to use a front bumper and welded the front fender extension to the fender.

Awesome car, wish I would have seen this thread earlier, when I saw your pics of the floor cut out and the seat mount left in the car I really felt like an amateur (or stupid), never crossed my mind to leave them in, just goes to show your never to old to learn something new.

Haha, I had to do a double take myself to accept how big that was! The only thing more impressive than the size of that booth is the Camaro build (then again, i'm partial to both Carbon Fiber and the color Orange for obvious reasons).
