View Full Version : ATS speed sensor bracket

Do you need to install the speed sensor braket between the spindle and hub on ATS spindles? The only thing I could see would be a chance of problems with the brakes (using C6 dual piston calipers).

Tyler went through a lot of trouble obtaining those brackets and they are part of the design. If you think the tabs are in the way, you can cut them back but they shouldn't be eliminated between the hub and the spindle.... If you are running C6 brakes, you shouldn't have any clearance issues.

It also is a place to securely mount the speed sensor connector so that it does not hang loose!

Wondering what to do with the speed sensors myself... Anyone do anything with them ever?

I don't have the braket so I think the easiest thing to do is make a shim (of whatever thickness). I'm planning on clipping the sensor plug and wire off as I can't imagine I'd ever need it.

I have a hall sender already on my TH350 trans for my electric speedo... which would be the only thing I could see a use for it (if that works, I'm not sure).

Somebody was talking about a retrofit ABS system coming in the near future; I'd expect it'd need some sort of wheel speed sensors.

When I spoke to Tyler about removing that bracket he said that I should not remove it and that if I were going to eliminate the connector that I should just cut the ear off. Hope this helps .

If they're the same thickness as the dust shields that go in the back between the hubs and uprights, they're 18 gauge sheet metal plus paint, so about .050" thick. Considering that removing these changes the caliper alignment over the rotor, I would suggest running them or an equivalent shim.

The bracket isn't necessary for the WSS harness. I just let it hang loose and secured the chassis ABS harness to the UCA. It's secure but still flexable.
