Need HELP on deciding on these seats

I have a chance to pickup these seats at my work for my 1972 Camaro. They are out of a 2001 BMW M3 convertible. They are power, heated, and sport seats.

These seats have the built in seat belts and I am pretty sure the back seats will work in the car also.

I have first dibs on them but I have to let the owner know soon. He wants to sell them and they have pretty high demand.

      What does everyone think??

Why not!!! BMW makes some great chairs ;) If you can get a good deal on them, I think you should.

I say go for it, if you can get the seat modules with them as well you should be able to run power and ground to the module and have the memory function work as well. the only thing that may become a problem is the height, make sure the seat bottom will not be too tall due to all the electric motors etc on the seats.

If you get them and need wiring diagrams for the seat modules let me know I can get them for you (I am a BMW tech)

the only other thing is they will be considerably heavier than after market manually adjusted seats.

Well I would get anything I need to install them in my car.

They are heavy from what I understand but with enough horsepower it should overcome that problem

For the money I know I can find a cheaper sport style seat but these are premium leather from a M3. Hard to find anything like them in a stock factory seat. A lot of cheaper leather or vinyl out there.

I do hope the will sit low in the camaro.

I don't think it's wise to use a seat mounted belt in a Camaro. I am not 100% but the mounting points were not designed for the stress of your body weight in a crash.

I thought about the vader seats but the E46 M3 seats are a bit wider and more comfortable on a long drive.

Vaders are cool sport seats and are another option also if the E46 M3 seats don't make the cut.

thats probably true, but I am guessing the mounting points will have to be modded so they could be beefed up too.

E46 M3 seats are some of the nicest out there. Gotta love the soft Napa leather. If you reinforce the floor, the convertible seats would be alright. A coupe seat with a good 3-point belt would be better, though.

I almost bought a set of E46 M3 coupe seats for my '68 a few years back. I ended up pulling one of the seats out of my personal E46 to check the fit in my Camaro, and the width of the rails was way too wide for the floor pan. You might want to measure or do a trial fit before you buy them. I didn't want to do major work to fit them, so I ended up with a set of Recaro "Style" Topline seats instead.

And as another BMW tech, I will agree that they are heavy. But they are also a very comfortable and durable sport seat. Oh, and the heaters kick ass.
