I think i found a shot of it way back when. Look at the cowl differences. The 33 flavored cowl works on that car so well.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. We really appreciate it... we had a great time up in Detroit the waiting on Sunday was a little rough other than that we had a ball.
The ISCA, Bob Mallard and all the guys from the MHRA were fantastic hosts.
We are very Proud to have won one of the most if not the most prestigious awards in hot rodding! With that said I'm a guy that uses his cars so now we are going to get it ready to drive. You will see us at goodguys and NSRA events, local stuff too cruise nights, captree westchester street rods events, morgan park etc...
this is one Ridler winner that you might have pull up next to you at a light and don't be surprised if...

I know Doug and I know this is one Ridler winner that will get used. Doug told me Sunday that the most beautiful part of the car to him is the dash, that is because he wanted something nice to look at when he was driving it. The car is unreal, and I hope William gets to autocross it at Columbus.

Thanks! Alan worked with BASF Glasurit on the color, he kept painting swatches and then little car bodies until he decided less flake, more of this less of that... until this paint formula was finally choosen. Alan sees things in the paint and the colors that 98% of the people don't see. He has an incredible eye not only for color but shapes, design fabrics etc. obviously!

BASF was a great supplier to work with and they have a great product. thanks, again

Great to see a fellow Long Island guy win!! Incredible car.. Love the front bumper brackets and all the little metal touches. You should buy a real B400 to park next to it at shows so all can see the incredible metal work.

Please post when you are hitting some local cruise or shows.

I wanted to use Yancys photo to identify all the crew at Johnsons Hot Rod Shop.
starting on the top row left to right: Heath, Anthony, Kelvin, Chris, Shane, Greg.
Bottom row left to right: Dino, Vinny, Doug Cooper, My wife Michele, Angie Johnson and Alan Johnson

I would like to thank everyone that perservered through this build, the long hours for months on end, 7 days a week. Not getting to go home and sleep in your own beds some nights and many of your wifes coming to the shop to visit and bring meals for the crew. I thank them for putting up with the demands to get this project done. Alans dad jumping in, doing everything he could to help make sure the car got finished on time and his mom making dinner for the shop.
Angie got all the hats, t-shirts, pull overs and jackets coordinated, colors picked out and made sure they were embroidered. Made several trips to drop them off and pick them up. She coordinated the manufacturing and design of the sign, the blueprint, the video and the build book.

It took an entire team to get it all done... from the car design and thought it takes to coordinate a build of this caliber to keeping the team motivated and focused {Alan} to the paint [Greg] to the machine work [Heath] to the metal work [Tony, Vinny, Dino] to getting every single part....Shipping, receiving ordering it on time and the back and forth to the plater, the polisher, the wheel company, the electronics for the ignition, radio, nuts and bolts, handling every single part on the car {Shane] and every other task necessary to get this car done, body work, assembly test fitting fabrication wet sanding, the list goes on and on..[Anthony, Kelvin and Chris]

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE ON THE CREW AND ALL OF THE OTHERS THAT SHOWED UP AT THE SHOP TO HELP OUT AND CHIP IN ON THEIR OWN TIME THE MANUFACTURERS THAT PROVIDEED PARTS AND THE COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS THAT PROVIDED SERVICES TO GET THIS PROJECT DONE ON TIME.

I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING EVERYONE DID TO GET THIS CAR BUILT AND TO DETROIT AND THE QUALITY OF THE EFFORT SHOWED IN THE RESULT...
THE RIDLER AWARD!!!! THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH

SINCERELY, DOUG COOPER

Doug, I've looked at your car quite a bit probably because it just oozes 30's style and class. Very fitting name you decided on. The LS3 are great motors of course. What made you chose it and what other engines were considered if any?

Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate it. Were you in Detroit?

We had tossed around several names and none really fit the concept of the build/car. I asked several friends for their ideas and a few days later Bob Johnson called me with "Deucenberg". No doubt in my mind at that point, the name fit the car perfectly....

As far as the engine it's an LS6 why did we pick it you ask... we bought that engine three years ago, long before we decided [last fall] to go to Detroit ...great engine for a street rod, reliable, gets good mileage and makes good power. Don't know that any of those features matter now? based on the hours and money it took to make that LS engine look pretty and slick I could have put an exotic powerplant in the car and probably saved $...SOOOOOOOOO

We were building this car to be a really slick driving "street" rod that i could take on road trips to events. As Alan and I got more and more carried away developing one off parts, Bob Johnson urged us to go the extra 10 or 15% detailing it underneath and enter the car for the Ridler....... and the rest is history as they say.

Congratulations Doug!!! I can't find words to describe what I think about that car!! It is just simply amazing.

I'm not sure if it is a re-run or not, but I just saw YOU and the B400 on CAR CRAZY. THAT in itself is pretty damn cool.....but the Ridler Award is the absolute pinnacle for a car guy.....you must be very, very proud.
