Brake Hardline Adapter Fittings for C5 caliper hoses to a 1966 GTO

      Howdy,

I'm installing C5 front/Ls1 rear calipers on my 66 gto. I have nice stainless steel lines that came with the calipers I wish to use, and my GTO has factory lines in stainless steel already in the standard 66 configuration. I'd rather not re-flare the hardlines for metric ends. I would however like to use a simple adapter fitting to tie the C5/ls1 caliper hoses to my 66 GTO brake hardline fittings. I THINK this would be the correct fitting, yes?:

      Does that look correct?

If this isn't the one, or if you know of a cheaper source, I'd appreciate the help immensely! Thanks so much in advance!

The fitting that you linked to is an AN adapter fitting and probably not what you're looking for unless you're planning on running several additional adapter fittings to convert between the two parts you currently have. The factory GTO hard line should be a 3/8-24 SAE inverted flare male tube nut. It sounds like you've got C5 caliper hoses, or some aftermarket equivalent, which should be M10x1.0 ISO female bubble flare fittings at the frame end.

A male/female adapter fitting, something like BrakeQuip's #BQ125 shown here: http://www.brakequip.com/mfthread.html, should do the trick. There are probably some alternative brass options, but I'd rather see you use steel in an application like that. There may be other manufacturers as well, but BrakeQuip had the clearest website showing the actual thread designations and configurations IMO.

Thanks so much for the correct fitting, Tobin! Glad I checked here and didn't go with info from an old archived post!

So, it's not clear at all where one can buy the Brakequip fittings from? There is nothing on the site listing distributors I can find and a quick google search came up short. Any suggestions? I'd rather use a steel fitting as well, and these are in fact C5 soft lines I'm working with. Thanks again!

De nada...I'd just call up BrakeQuip and order direct. You won't be getting any quantity discounts, but they're making these things 30000 at a time, so they should be at least somewhat semi-competitive. They've got a section on their website for dealers as well, so you may want to check and see if there are any near you.
