Anyone know if a shifter from a 2008 Pontiac G6 (for a 4T45E 4sp) can be used for a 4L80E?
If so, it is crazy difficult to get it to work?

Yes you can use the G8 Shifter with a 4L80E. We used to use alot of the G6 shifters with them as well. You need to make a new arm for the selector shaft and a bracket for the cable. You can also use the tap shift side of the shifter as long as you have a PCS or Compushift controller.

Hi Mark,
No joy using a TCI controller with tap shift?
So, the G8 shifter can handle both 4sp and 6sp transmissions? I thought at least some of the G8's are 6sp.
Thanks,
Mike

The G8 Shifter was based for the 6 speed 6L80E, however it only has Park, Reverse, Neutral & Drive with Tap + / -. So it doesn't really care if you put it in a 2 speed, 3 speed, 4 speed or 6 speed. You just have to fabricate you arms for the proper geometry. You just have to remember that the only time you can use low one, manual second, or manual third will be with the tap shift option.
As for the TCI controller, yes you can use it for Tap shift as well, I guess you are refering to the older TCU / TCI conroller? Because PCS makes the new TCI controller so they are now one and the same. But anyway yes you can use the TCI as well.
Thanks,
Mark

I have the older TCI 377000 controller I bought as a package deal from a forum member.
The tap shift will work to my satisfaction in the short term.
In the long term, I plan on adding a Twist Machine paddle shifter.
Thanks,
Mike

I had read that the 4L80e/4L85e had equal spacing between PRND, whereas the 6L80e/6L90e has the double distance between PR vs RND. How do you compensate for this on the shifter?
Thanks!

Is it possible to integrate a modern shifter from G6, G8 or CTS to a 67 camaro console?
from the pictures of shifters i saw on ebay, they seem to be too high to fit them easily in the console, compared to the original shifter.

Did anyone get this to work? I'm about to put a 4L80E in and am wondering about this tap shifter...
