I am looking to do this upgrade on my Elco very soon. I have searched the archives on this site for as much info as I could, but still have a few questions.
Are the LT1 brake plates (where the caliper mounts to) the same as the LS1's for the rear?
Do they both utilize the same duel piston caliper?
Which is easier to set up for a parking brake......LT1 calipers with the cable integrated into the caliper or the drum style from the LS1?

Thanx:smoke:

The LT1 plates are not the same as the LS1 -- the LS1 has a drum-style parking brake that works with the inside of the disk hub; the LT1 has a lever on the caliper.

I do not think they're the same caliper - but I am not positive - because the LT1 has the lever and parking brake assembly.

The calipers are different too, both are single piston calipers as well. As for which parking brake is easier, it depends on your preference. The LT1 caliper might be a little easier since the cable bracket is part of the caliper while the LS1 setup requires a separate bracket mounted to the rear axle.

Thanks for the help.
I thought that the rear LS1 was a dual piston style like the fronts. My bad......when I did a search on Advanced Auto's site, I must have been looking at the front LS1 calipers:pat:

Anybody know of a company that sells a bracket to mount the LT1 rear discs on to a 9" ford rear?

Kore 3 sells the kit for that LS1 setup....not the bracket alone.

Thanks for thinking of us, however we specialize in C5/C6 Corvette based rear brake kits, not LT1 or LS1 F-body.

You might try Noel at Touring Classics as I know he sells LT1 type rear brake kits similar to Baer's rear "Track" kits. Baer may be another option as well. I'm not sure if either will sell the brackets separately, but you can always ask. The LT1 caliper is essentially a C4 rear caliper except the direction of pull on the parking brake is different. The caliper is a first generation PBR single 45mm piston designed for a 20mm thick rotor max.

After talking to Torbin today at Kore 3.......I might be changing my mind on the Ls1 set up.
