early shifting aod
Guys-
Just got a 1990 mustang 5.0 for a commuter car. Way better gas mileage than my pick up. Car has most basic bolt ons.....Full exhaust, full intake with 24 lbs injectors, 3.73's. I got the car after it sat for about four years unused. Previous owner had the trans rebuilt about a thousand miles before the car was parked. Just a stock rebiuld, no performance parts used. When in drive, it'll shift around 1500 in each gear unless it's floored, then it'll shift around 4000. It does fine when shifted manually, but man, if left in drive, i'll be in third before crossing an intersection from a stop. Is this normal, or is something wrong? And more importantley, can it be adjusted at home? I searched and didn't find anything helpful. Thanks, Jason

Check the TV cable, it may be bad. If that looks good check the TV valve in the valve body, it may be stuck.
Here is a link to our web site that shows how to set the cable.
Keep in mind that this is a very important adjustment for the AOD and if not preformed correctly can damage the transmission.
