Best affordable automatic OD for chevy?

I got a friend with a 57 chevy who plans on running a Ramjet 502 with 3:50 gears. He insist on an automatic. He thinks the 700R4 night serve him well if he doesn't abuse it. He also said a good 4L80E might be out of his price range.

My question is who makes the best bang for the buck automatic that will handle the Ramjet's 500 horsepower? He's also going to need the appropriate electronics to do the install.

I know Vigilante is supposed to make a great converter.

Any thoughts?
